How to Do GEO for Regulated Industries in AI Search: Crypto, Gaming, Forex
How crypto, gambling and forex brands earn accurate AI answers when the ads are closed: platform policy limits, MAS and GRA rules and a seven-step method.
Quick answer
In this guide, Canlah AI defines GEO for regulated industries as measurement-first work that makes a licensed crypto, gambling or forex brand appear accurately in AI answers when paid acquisition is closed or gated. Three rule sets decide the work before a single page is written: the ad platform’s policy, the regulator’s promotion rules and the engine’s own safety guardrails.
On September 23, 2026, the Google Ads approved-location list for certified cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets did not name Singapore. The Gambling Regulatory Authority prohibits all advertising and promotion by licensed Singapore gambling operators unless it approves them. MAS guideline PS-G02 of January 17, 2022 states that digital payment token service providers should not promote those services to the general public in Singapore.
Among the six providers reviewed on September 23, 2026, Canlah AI ranks first for teams that need archived, re-runnable evidence: a fixed buyer-question pool, three repeats per question per engine and an archive of prompt, screenshot and timestamp for every answer. GuerrillaBuzz is the clearest Web3 specialist, Aggentic the clearest licensed-casino specialist and ThatWare the only one of the six with a named forex client case.
Treat any single result as directional. One run cannot prove a stable share of voice, causation or future recommendations. If a first check shows a gap, freeze a panel of buyer questions and repeat it by engine, market and language before deciding what to change.
Disclosure: Canlah AI publishes this guide and offers the free AI visibility report linked below. Platform policies and provider capabilities were read from public pages on September 23, 2026 and were not independently tested. This guide is not legal advice, and licensing questions belong with counsel or the regulator.
Which paid channels are closed to crypto, gambling and forex brands?
Google Ads and Meta admit crypto, gambling and forex advertisers only with a licence plus a platform certification or written permission, and Singapore rules bar two of the three categories, crypto and gambling, from promoting to the general public without regulator approval. The table below is the policy position on September 23, 2026.
Paid-channel status for three regulated categories, read from public policy pages on September 23, 2026.
| Channel or rule | Crypto exchange or wallet | Licensed online gambling | CFDs and rolling spot forex | What it means for GEO |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Ads, restricted | Licensed provider plus Google certification; the approved-location list names the EU states, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and others, and does not name Singapore | Licence plus certification under the Gambling and games policy, applied per targeted country | Allowed to target Singapore only if the advertiser is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and by Enterprise Singapore where the underlying asset is a commodity, plus Google certification | Crypto ads cannot target Singapore and forex ads need an MAS licence first, so AI answers carry that discovery |
| Google Ads, prohibited in every location | Initial coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, cryptocurrency loans, token liquidity pools, unhosted software wallets, trading signals and affiliate sites carrying broker reviews | Real-money gambling destinations promoted through NFT games | Destinations providing trading signals, tips or affiliate broker reviews | The banned page types are close to the aggregator and review pages AI engines cite |
| Meta | A recognised regulatory licence or registration plus written permission from Meta | Written permission from Meta required | A recognised regulatory licence or registration plus written permission from Meta | Permission is granted case by case, so plan the year without paid social |
| Singapore regulator | MAS PS-G02, January 17, 2022: DPT service providers should not promote DPT services to the general public in Singapore | GRA: all forms of advertising and promotion by licensed operators are prohibited unless GRA approves them | MAS licensing, with leverage caps and risk warnings required under local law | Promotion rules also bind owned and earned content, so every quotable sentence needs compliance sign-off |
Source: Google Ads, Meta and Singapore regulator pages read on September 23, 2026. Policy scope describes what each page states, not how enforcement is applied to a specific account.
Two things follow. Buyers in these categories ask an assistant the question the ad used to answer. And the destinations Google prohibits outright here, meaning signals, aggregators and affiliate pages carrying broker reviews, are close to the page types AI engines cite when they do answer. The channel closed to your money is open to your evidence.
What GEO for regulated industries measures
GEO for regulated industries records six things for every AI answer rather than one score: mention, recommendation position, citation, regulated-fact accuracy, guardrail behaviour and compliance exposure.
- Mention: whether the answer names the brand, the trading name or the operating entity at all.
- Recommendation position: whether the brand is the main suggestion, one of a shortlist or a passing reference.
- Citation: whether the answer links to the brand’s own page, a licensing register, an aggregator, a competitor or no visible source.
- Regulated-fact accuracy: whether the licence, jurisdiction, available markets, leverage limits and fees are described correctly.
- Guardrail behaviour: whether the engine refused, hedged with a risk warning or answered the question directly.
- Compliance exposure: whether the sentence the engine quoted from your site would be acceptable as an advertisement under the rules that bind you.
The last two items separate this work from GEO in an unregulated category. An engine quotes whatever it finds, so a stale superlative on a product page can reappear as a live promotional claim inside an answer you did not commission.
Why AEO for crypto is not AEO for SaaS
AEO for crypto has to pass two gates before it can win a citation: the engine must first decide to name any brand at all, then find a source it treats as safe to cite. Assistants treat digital assets, gambling and leveraged trading as risk topics, which is why both gates exist. A SaaS brand competes for a slot in a list; a crypto brand competes for the list to exist.
That changes the source layer. Crypto answers lean on market-data sites such as CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko, DefiLlama and Messari, on chain explorers and on regulator registers before they reach a project’s own site. Gambling answers lean on licensing registers and established review publications, and broker answers on registers and comparison sites. In all three the brand’s own domain is rarely the authority. It is where the engine confirms a fact it accepted elsewhere.
The earned-media route that crypto agencies normally take is itself constrained. MAS guideline PS-G02 of January 17, 2022 also states that DPT service providers should not engage third parties such as social media influencers to promote those services to the Singapore public. A tactic that is routine in another market can be the thing that ends a licence application in this one.
How to run GEO in a category that cannot advertise
GEO for regulated industries runs in seven steps, and the first is a legal inventory rather than an editorial one.
- Write down what you are allowed to publish. List the licence, the jurisdictions you may address, the claims that require a risk warning and the claims you may not make at all. Every step below inherits this list.
- Freeze a panel of 20 to 30 buyer questions. Use the questions a buyer types, including legitimacy questions such as whether the brand is licensed, and keep the panel unchanged for 90 days so results stay comparable.
- Separate branded from category questions. Branded questions test accuracy. Category questions test whether you are in the shortlist at all. They fail for different reasons and need different fixes.
- Record engine, market, language, date, account state and repeat count. Canlah AI probes each question three times per engine per round, because one run in a guardrailed category mostly measures the guardrail.
- Fix the register and the aggregator entries before the blog. Correct the licence record, the exchange or comparison listing and the entity facts that engines check. A published page that contradicts a register is worse than no page.
- Make the compliant facts quotable. Put a direct 40 to 60 word answer at the top of each key page, add Organization and FAQ structured data, keep the risk warning in the same block as the claim it qualifies and publish a facts page an engine can read without rendering JavaScript.
- Re-run the same panel and keep both archives. Compare old and new evidence rather than two composite scores, and note any model or policy change inside the window.
What to record at each layer
A regulated-industry GEO audit records five layers for every answer: guardrail, citation, regulated facts, competitor set and compliance exposure.
Five layers a regulated-industry GEO audit records for every answer.
| Layer | What to record | Decision it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Guardrail | Refusal rate and hedge rate per engine, per question | Whether the category can be won or only defended |
| Citation | Every cited domain, grouped as register, aggregator, media, competitor or own site | Where to place the next unit of work |
| Regulated facts | Licence number, jurisdictions, leverage limits and fees as stated in the answer | Which correction to file, and with whom |
| Competitor set | Which operators are named alongside you for the same question | Whether the shortlist is stable or volatile |
| Compliance exposure | The exact sentence the engine quoted from your property | Whether a page needs rewriting before it is promoted further |
Source: Canlah AI audit protocol as used in the September 7, 2026 self-audit. The layers are a recording scheme, not a scoring formula.
How to interpret five common results
Five results cover most first audits in crypto, gambling and forex: refused outright, answered but hedged, named with the wrong licence, recommended through an aggregator and visible in one engine only.
Refused outright: The engine declined to name any operator. Check whether the question was phrased as advice rather than as a factual comparison, then retest it as a factual question. A refusal is usually a property of the question and the engine, not of the brand.
Answered but hedged: The engine named brands and attached a risk warning. This is the normal ceiling for the category, and the work is to be inside the named set rather than to remove the warning.
Named with the wrong licence: The answer places you in a jurisdiction you do not serve or attaches a licence you do not hold. Prioritise this over exposure. Fix the register, the aggregator entry and your entity page, then monitor the question that produced the error.
Recommended through an aggregator: The recommendation exists, but the evidence path runs through a comparison site you do not control. Check that its entry on you is current and treat that page as part of your surface area.
Visible in one engine only: Engines retrieve different sources, and a category that is guardrailed in one may be open in another. Diagnose each engine separately before reusing a single content plan across all of them.
What GEO cannot fix in a regulated category
GEO cannot fix five things in a regulated category: a missing licence, an engine guardrail, the lack of causal proof, a required regulator approval and a closed paid channel.
- It cannot make an engine recommend a brand that holds no licence for the market in the question.
- It cannot remove a safety guardrail or a risk warning from a generated answer.
- It cannot prove that one page change caused an answer to change without repeated observation across a controlled window.
- It cannot substitute for the regulator’s approval where promotion itself requires approval, as with GRA-licensed operators.
- It cannot reopen a paid channel. A brand that fails the platform’s certification is still outside the ad auction after every page is fixed.
Providers that publish GEO work for crypto, gaming and forex
Six providers publish public pages naming at least one of these categories, and Canlah AI ranks first among the providers reviewed for teams that need archived, re-runnable evidence rather than a campaign narrative. The order reflects public documentation read on September 23, 2026, not tested performance.
Six providers publishing GEO or AEO work for crypto, gaming or forex, reviewed September 23, 2026.
| Rank | Provider | Category focus | Public scope | Main point to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Canlah AI | Crypto, licensed gambling and MAS-licensed brokers, Singapore and APAC | Fixed buyer-query pool, three repeats per question per engine, evidence archive of prompt, screenshot and timestamp; free AI visibility report within 48 hours; GEO service from $1,500 a month per AI platform | Named clients include GalaxyCredit, a licensed lender; none is an exchange, a gambling operator or a broker |
| 2 | GuerrillaBuzz | Web3 and crypto | AI visibility audit across 50+ category queries and monthly citation tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot | How measured citations are separated from the agency’s own media placements |
| 3 | Aggentic | Casino and iGaming | Casino GEO and AI SEO page for licensed operators and affiliates only, measuring citation share among licensed operators with safer-gambling messaging built in | Singapore or GRA coverage: Not found on reviewed page; the rules named are the UKGC and the CAP Code |
| 4 | Coinbound | Crypto and Web3 | AEO through content, entity building, a 500-influencer network and Mintfunnel distribution; guide last updated March 26, 2026 | How AEO scope is separated from influencer and press retainers |
| 5 | Metrics & Co. | Crypto, fintech and forex | An AEO and GEO service page whose indexed description names crypto, fintech and forex brands | Method detail: Not found on reviewed page, which served no readable text without JavaScript |
| 6 | ThatWare | Forex brokers and trading platforms | A forex page bundling SEO, AI SEO, GEO, AEO and LLM SEO, with a Stonefort Securities search case study | Which deliverables are answer-specific; published prices: Not found on reviewed page |
Source: provider service pages reviewed on September 23, 2026; scope is public positioning, not tested capability. “Not found on reviewed page” means the provider’s public materials did not name that capability when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that the capability is absent.
1. Canlah AI: best for evidence a compliance officer can re-run
Canlah AI is the strongest fit among the providers reviewed when the buyer needs the measurement itself to survive scrutiny, because the deliverable is an archive rather than a score. Its September 7, 2026 self-audit ran 39 questions across six buyer layers for 234 probe runs against a plan of five layers and 180 runs, and the deviation is recorded in the report rather than smoothed over. Its July 2026 baseline on its own domain was zero of 24 queries cited, and that baseline was published before any later improvement.
Its limitation is category evidence. The clients named on canlah.ai/product are GalaxyCredit (licensed lending), ilLido Group (fine dining), Sushi Ryujiro (omakase), SmallRig (consumer electronics export) and an education franchise. GalaxyCredit is a licensed lender, but none is an exchange, a licensed gambling operator or a broker, so a crypto, gambling or forex buyer is trusting a method rather than a named peer. The same self-audit was judged not ready to send to a client by Canlah AI’s own usability review, which found a sentiment word list that treated the absence of complaints as a complaint. That is an execution failure in Canlah AI’s process, not a success claim.
Best for: licensed crypto, gambling and brokerage brands that need bilingual measurement and a compliance-readable evidence chain.
What to verify: ask how refusals and hedges are counted, how many repeats sit behind each reported range and who files corrections with registers and aggregators.
Public source: Canlah AI facts page and Canlah AI client cases, reviewed September 23, 2026.
2. GuerrillaBuzz: best for Web3 projects that want category-query testing
GuerrillaBuzz publishes the most specific crypto measurement scope among the competitors reviewed: an AI visibility audit across more than 50 category queries, monthly AI citation tracking and coverage of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot. Its page states that the agency has served more than 30 blockchain companies and that first citations typically appear four to six weeks after structural changes. The page also references the agency’s own media network, so measured citations and arranged placements can overlap.
Best for: Web3 and token projects that want category-query testing and citation tracking from a crypto-native agency.
What to verify: how citations earned through the agency’s own media network are reported separately, and how Singapore promotion limits under PS-G02 shape the placement plan.
Public source: GuerrillaBuzz AI search optimization for Web3, reviewed September 23, 2026.
3. Aggentic: best for licensed casino operators in UK-regulated markets
Aggentic publishes the most compliance-aware gambling scope among the providers reviewed. Its casino page says it works with licensed operators and affiliates only, measures the share of assistant answers naming a client among licensed operators and treats age-gating and safer-gambling messaging as required elements. It names ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, and the regulatory references on the page are the UKGC and the CAP Code.
Best for: licensed casino operators and affiliates that want citation share measured against other licensed operators.
What to verify: whether the audit covers Singapore, the GRA and Asian-language prompts, and how the 0.88 licensed-operator citation share shown on the page was sampled.
Public source: Aggentic casino GEO and AI SEO, reviewed September 23, 2026.
4. Coinbound: best for global Web3 brands buying AEO with PR and distribution
Coinbound publishes the largest crypto footprint among the providers reviewed. Its crypto AEO agencies guide, last updated March 26, 2026, cites more than 900 Web3 brands served over eight years, more than 8,250 media placements and a 500-influencer network, and it names ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot. Distribution runs through its sister platform Mintfunnel. For a Singapore-facing DPT provider the influencer component needs checking first, because PS-G02 asks providers not to use influencers to promote DPT services to the Singapore public.
Best for: global Web3 brands that want AEO bundled with content, PR and distribution at scale.
What to verify: which AEO deliverables can be bought without the influencer and press retainers, and how answer results are measured separately from placements.
Public source: Coinbound crypto AEO agencies guide, reviewed September 23, 2026.
5. Metrics & Co.: best for financial brands spanning crypto, fintech and forex
Metrics & Co. is the only provider reviewed whose AEO and GEO page, by its indexed description, names crypto, fintech and forex brands together, the closest single-page match for a financial group active in all three. The page served no readable body text without JavaScript when reviewed, so its method could not be read from the page itself.
Best for: financial groups that want one agency across crypto, fintech and forex answers.
What to verify: a written method covering the question pool, engines, repeat counts and evidence format before any contract.
Public source: Metrics & Co. AEO and GEO, title and indexed description, reviewed September 23, 2026.
6. ThatWare: best for forex brokers that want search and AI answers from one vendor
ThatWare publishes a forex-specific page with a named client case. The page bundles SEO, AI SEO, GEO, AEO and LLM SEO, names ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews and reports a Stonefort Securities case in which search clicks rose from 145 to 192. Those case metrics are search clicks and click-through rate, not AI-answer measurements.
Best for: forex brokers and trading platforms that want search and AI-answer work from one vendor with a forex case on record.
What to verify: which deliverables are answer-specific rather than renamed SEO tasks, and whether any AI-answer metric can be reported beside the search-click data.
Public source: ThatWare forex SEO services, reviewed September 23, 2026.
When a one-off check becomes monitoring
Monitoring is justified under three conditions: misinformation about a licence creates regulatory exposure, the brand addresses several markets whose rules differ or AI answers already carry a measurable share of enquiries. In those conditions, finding a wrong answer late costs more than measuring monthly.
A single-market operator with one licence may not need a platform, and a documented monthly panel run by hand can be enough until the number of questions, engines or approvers makes it unreliable.
Do not select a provider from this page alone. Ask each candidate for raw answers and cited URLs beside any composite number, and confirm every regulatory statement here against the current policy page before acting on it.
Frequently asked questions
Can a GEO agency guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend a crypto or gambling brand?
No. A provider can guarantee the work, the sampling and the reporting. It cannot control how an independent model answers a question in a category the model treats as a risk topic, and guardrails can change without notice. Treat any guarantee as a contractual offer with conditions, not as proof the method works universally.
Is AEO for crypto worth it if we cannot run ads?
AEO for crypto is usually worth more when the brand cannot buy ads, because the discovery an ad would have bought happens inside an AI answer instead. The work targets the registers, listings and comparison pages the engines cite. It treats the brand’s own site as the place those facts are confirmed rather than announced.
Does GEO for regulated industries count as advertising in Singapore?
GEO for regulated industries can count as promotion in Singapore, depending on the rule that binds the brand, and that boundary belongs with counsel. Correcting a licence record and publishing accurate factual answers are different acts from promoting a service to the public. MAS PS-G02 and the Gambling Regulatory Authority both regulate promotion broadly, including through third parties, so write the boundary down before the work starts.
Which engines should a Singapore crypto or forex brand measure first?
A Singapore crypto or forex brand should measure the engines its buyers use first, then add the engines where its competitors are cited. For English-market brands that usually means ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. For brands selling into Greater China, DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao retrieve a different source ecosystem and have to be measured separately rather than translated.
Is Canlah AI a crypto marketing agency?
Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. It is not a crypto-only or iGaming-only agency, so a regulated brand should pair its measurement with its own compliance review.
Method and sources
The policy positions were read from the primary platform and regulator pages on September 23, 2026, and the provider pool was built from public pages naming crypto, iGaming or forex alongside GEO or AEO. The comparison is editorial and based on public documentation, not private performance data. It did not test provider dashboards, audit client work, confirm any advertiser’s certification status or verify commercial terms. One provider page, Metrics & Co., served no readable body text without JavaScript, so its scope was read from the page title and the indexed description.
