AI Search Agency in Singapore: Why Your Brand Is Not Cited
CANLAH AI is an AI search agency in Singapore that diagnoses why a brand is missing from AI answers and fixes the causes, covering ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. We run a fixed question set several times against each engine separately, report frequencies rather than screenshots, and hand over the raw answers so every number can be re-opened later.
Why is my brand missing from AI search results?
Four shapes cover nearly every case we are called in for. They have different causes and different fixes, and the first step of any honest engagement is working out which one you have rather than shipping the same checklist to everyone.
Your competitors get named and you do not
The most common shape. The engine returns three to six vendors for a category question and yours is not among them, run after run. This is almost never a content-quality problem — it is that the engine never retrieved your page in the first place, or retrieved it and found nothing it could quote as a standalone sentence.
You appear for your own name and nothing else
Ask the engine about your brand and it answers correctly. Ask it the category question your buyers actually type and you are absent. Brand queries are retrieval; category queries are discovery. Only the second one brings you anyone new.
You appeared last week and not today
Expected, and the reason single screenshots are worthless as evidence. In our own runs the same prompt issued three times in a fresh session returned three different vendor sets. Anything measured once is a sample of one.
The engine cites a directory or a competitor's blog about you
It found the topic but not you as the source. That usually means the answer to the buyer's question does not exist on your site in a form a machine can lift out — or it exists three scrolls down inside a paragraph that only makes sense with the paragraph above it.
How an engine actually looks for a vendor
Figures below come from our own instrumented runs: 60 rounds across 12 buyer questions, one engine (a GPT-5.5 class model with web search), Singapore, September 2026. One engine, one country, one week — stated so you can weigh it. We publish the shape of what we found because most of this is not written down anywhere else.
1 question becomes 3–28 searches
The engine does not search your question. It rewrites it into its own set of queries and searches those. Across 60 runs we logged a median of 8 distinct rewrites per question, and 95% of the rewrites were different from one another.
Rewrites travel along word roots and rarely cross
Ask a question using "GEO" and 76% of the rewrites stayed on the geo root while only 2% used aeo. Ask the same shape of question using "AEO" and 62% went to aeo. If your site has no page on a root, that entire branch of the fan-out has nothing of yours to find.
Problem-shaped questions fan out to "AI search"
For questions phrased as a problem — why is my brand not showing up — 70% of the English rewrites used the ai search root rather than geo, aeo or aio. That is why this page exists under this name and not another one.
Being found is not being cited
We logged 147 cases where the engine ran a site-restricted check against a specific vendor's domain. In 87 the vendor was cited that round; in 60 it was not. Having the page is necessary and not sufficient, and any vendor telling you otherwise has not measured it.
These numbers describe one engine on one set of questions in one market. They are not a law of AI search, and we will publish the revision when a wider run says something different.
What an engagement actually consists of
Fixed question set, agreed before the work starts
We write down the buyer questions first and freeze them. Changing the question set mid-engagement makes every before-and-after comparison meaningless, so if it changes, that change goes in the report.
Each engine separately, several runs each
Engines disagree with each other and with themselves. A result is a frequency — cited in four runs of five on one engine, zero of five on another — never a single screenshot. Five runs is our floor.
Raw answers archived
Every answer, with its cited URLs and the searches the engine actually issued, is kept so any figure can be re-opened months later. If a number in our report cannot be traced back to a stored answer, it does not go in the report.
Fixes aimed at the failing step, not at a checklist
Crawl access, then a quotable answer on the right page under the right root, then entity consistency, then presence on the third-party pages that engine actually cites. We work the step the evidence says is broken rather than shipping the same audit template to everyone.
If you came here looking for a different word
The same job is sold under several names. These pages cover the same work from different starting points, so pick whichever matches how you think about it.
- AEO agency in Singapore — where the three acronyms come from and where they genuinely differ.
- Generative engine optimisation services — the engagement itself, scope by scope.
- GEO versus SEO — what carries over from search engine optimisation and what does not.
- In-house versus an agency — the case for keeping this inside, made honestly.
Frequently asked
What is an AI search agency?
An agency whose job is getting your brand into the answers assistants generate, rather than into the ranked list of blue links beneath them. In practice the same work is sold as GEO (generative engine optimisation), AEO (answer engine optimisation) and AI search optimisation. The words differ; the deliverables are what to compare. Ask any vendor for their measurement protocol and their raw evidence before you compare their vocabulary.
Why does my brand not show up in ChatGPT?
Four causes account for most cases: the engine cannot fetch your pages, your pages hold no sentence a machine can lift out on its own, your entity facts are inconsistent across the places a machine looks, or you are absent from the third-party pages that engine leans on for your category. They are diagnosable in that order, and the first one makes the other three irrelevant until it is fixed. We publish the full walkthrough in our guide to why brands are missing from ChatGPT.
How is AI search visibility measured?
On a frozen question set, per engine, over repeated runs, reported as frequencies. The honest unit is "cited in 4 of 5 runs on Perplexity, 0 of 5 on Gemini", plus which sources were cited instead of you. There is no clicks-from-ChatGPT dashboard — the platforms do not expose one — so any vendor quoting you AI-referred traffic as a headline number should be asked where it comes from.
Can you guarantee my brand appears in AI answers?
No. Generative engines are probabilistic and their retrieval sources change continuously, so nobody controls whether a brand appears in a given answer. What can be committed to contractually is the work and the measurement: probe volume per engine, cadence, evidence retention, and a written review point. We set out which clauses we will and will not sign in our guide to whether a GEO agency can guarantee results.
How long before anything changes?
Engines re-crawl on their own schedule, so changes surface over weeks. We take a baseline before touching anything, then re-run the same frozen question set — the comparison is only meaningful against that baseline. Treat any timeline given without a baseline as a guess.
