Otterly vs Promptwatch in 2026: Which AI Visibility Tracker Is Better?

Otterly vs Promptwatch in 2026: Otterly AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts, Promptwatch at $95 for 50 prompts on four models. Which tracker fits.

Two dark panels facing each other, one of them lit indigo

Quick answer

Otterly AI is the better choice in this comparison for a small team that wants the lowest entry price and unlimited seats: Lite costs $29 a month for 15 prompts on four AI search engines, and every plan includes unlimited team members. Promptwatch is the better choice for a team that wants the tracker to write the content as well: Essential costs $95 a month for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses, and Professional at $245 a month adds 150 prompts, five AEO articles and 1,500 agent credits.

Prompt volume per dollar splits the two in the middle of the range. Promptwatch Professional tracks 150 prompts for $245 a month, or $1.63 per tracked prompt; Otterly AI Standard tracks 100 prompts for $189, or $1.89. Otterly AI is cheaper again at the top: 400 prompts for $489 against 350 prompts for $579. Teams that want the fixes made by people rather than another dashboard may prefer a managed service such as Canlah AI, which is not a software seat and sits in a different budget line from both trackers.

This is an editorial comparison based on public pricing and product pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not a controlled test of either tracker’s accuracy.

Disclosure: Canlah AI publishes this comparison and competes with both Otterly AI and Promptwatch for some of the same budgets, so this is not a neutral review. Competitor descriptions come from public product pages and were not verified through paid accounts or private demonstrations.

Main point to verify What the Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini add-ons cost on your tier, because the $29 entry price covers four engines Whether four tracked models per project reach your surfaces, and what a second project costs Ask both vendors in writing

“Not found on reviewed page” means the vendor’s public materials did not name that capability when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that the capability is absent.

Round 1: Entry price — Otterly AI wins

Otterly AI wins on entry price because Lite costs $29 a month for 15 prompts, against $95 a month for the cheapest Promptwatch plan. Annual billing takes 15% off Otterly AI, bringing Lite to $25, Standard to $160 and Premium to $422 a month. Promptwatch’s pricing page carries a monthly and annual toggle plus a dollar and euro switch, and the annual rates did not render on the page reviewed on September 23, 2026.

The two entry plans are not the same product. Otterly AI Lite gives 15 prompts, one workspace, three recommendations a week and 1,000 GEO audits a month. Promptwatch Essential gives 50 prompts, one project, 500 agent credits, Agent Chat plus MCP and API access, and AEO articles start one tier up on Professional. Per tracked prompt the two are within three cents of each other, at $1.93 and $1.90.

Both vendors sell without a sales call at the bottom of the range. Promptwatch runs a seven-day free trial on Essential and Professional and routes Business through a demo booking. Otterly AI sells all three published tiers self-serve and bills monthly.

Round 2: Prompt volume per dollar — Promptwatch wins

Promptwatch wins on prompt volume per dollar in the middle of the range, where Professional tracks 150 prompts for $245 a month against 100 prompts for $189 on Otterly AI Standard. That is $1.63 per prompt against $1.89, and it comes with 18,000 responses a month, an answer count that was not found on Otterly AI’s reviewed pricing page.

Otterly AI and Promptwatch published plans, pricing pages reviewed September 23, 2026 (USD, monthly billing).

Plan Price per month Prompts tracked Cost per prompt What the tier adds
Otterly AI Lite $29 15 $1.93 1 workspace, 3 recommendations a week, 1,000 GEO audits
Otterly AI Standard $189 100 $1.89 API, MCP, Agent Analytics (200,000 events), Looker Studio
Otterly AI Premium $489 400 $1.22 10,000 GEO URL audits, 1 million Agent Analytics events
Otterly AI Enterprise Custom From 1,000 Not published SSO, quarterly GEO health check, custom terms
Promptwatch Essential $95 50 $1.90 6,000 responses, 500 agent credits, 1 project, 1 seat
Promptwatch Professional $245 150 $1.63 18,000 responses, 1,500 credits, 5 AEO articles, knowledge base
Promptwatch Business $579 350 $1.65 42,000 responses, 2,500 credits, 10 AEO articles, Ads Radar

Source: Otterly AI and Promptwatch pricing pages reviewed September 23, 2026. Otterly AI engine add-ons and tax are excluded. Cost per prompt is calculated from the published monthly price divided by the published prompt count.

Promptwatch’s own arithmetic shows how often a prompt actually runs. Fifty prompts across four models for 30 days equals the 6,000 monthly responses it publishes, and 150 prompts and 350 prompts produce 18,000 and 42,000 on the same maths. Each prompt therefore draws one answer per model per day, and neither vendor described a repeat draw within the same day on the reviewed pages.

One draw a day is the reason prompt count matters more than the headline price. Otterly AI’s own stability study tracked 520 prompts across seven engines and collected 252,407 answers, and found that moving from 10 to 100 tracked prompts cut variation in reported Brand Coverage by about 73%. Both entry plans, at 15 and 50 prompts, sit below that threshold, so read the portfolio figure and not a single prompt.

Round 3: Engine coverage — Otterly AI wins

Otterly AI wins on engine coverage because a paid plan can reach seven engines, while every Promptwatch tier tracks four models per project. Otterly AI includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on all plans, and sells Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as separate add-ons priced by tier.

Promptwatch offers wider choice inside a narrower limit. Its plan cards show eight model logos, OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, Claude, Gemini, Meta, DeepSeek and Grok, and its feature matrix lists eleven surfaces including Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Meta Llama, OpenCode and Claude Code. The cap is the same four models on Essential, Professional and Business, so a brand that needs six surfaces has to run more than one project.

Chinese-language buyers are the gap both trackers share. DeepSeek appears in Promptwatch’s selectable model list and was not named on Otterly AI’s reviewed pricing page, and neither vendor named Qwen or Doubao anywhere on the pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. Confirm coverage in writing before you sign if your buyers ask AI assistants in Chinese.

Round 4: Content execution — Promptwatch wins

Promptwatch wins on execution because Professional includes five AEO articles a month and Business includes ten, while Otterly AI stops at recommendations and audits. Agent credits run 500, 1,500 and 2,500 a month by tier, Agent Chat is on every plan, and the Business tier adds a capability it calls Agentic AI Search Optimization.

The supporting pieces point the same way. Promptwatch lists content gap analysis, a knowledge base from Professional, content and technical optimization, crawler logs and publishing integrations with Webflow, Framer and WordPress alongside Google Search Console and Slack. An article drafted in the tool can therefore reach a page without a second system.

Otterly AI covers the same axis with a lower ceiling. It gives unlimited recommendations from Standard, 1,000 to 10,000 GEO URL audits a month, link citations analysis, a Brand Visibility Index and domain ranking, and article generation was not found on the reviewed pages. Both products stay software: a person still approves the draft, publishes it and earns the third-party mentions that AI engines cite.

Round 5: Team access and projects — Otterly AI wins

Otterly AI wins on team access because every plan including $29 Lite carries unlimited team members, while Promptwatch allows one seat on Essential, two on Professional and five on Business. For an SEO, content and PR group that wants one shared view, that difference decides the plan before any feature does.

Workspaces follow the same pattern. Otterly AI gives one workspace on Lite and unlimited workspaces from Standard, with unlimited brand reports on every tier. Promptwatch gives one project on Essential, two on Professional and five on Business, which is the tighter constraint for an agency or a house of brands.

Both vendors court agencies directly. Otterly AI runs an Agency Partners programme and a marketplace listing; Promptwatch publishes an agency solutions page, an agency pricing tab and affiliate and creator programmes. Ask each one what an extra client workspace costs before you commit a roster to either.

Round 6: Location and reporting depth — Promptwatch wins

Promptwatch wins on location depth because Business adds state and city level tracking on top of the country level tracking included on every tier, while Otterly AI’s reviewed page describes multi-country support across more than 50 countries, and state or city level tracking was not found on that page. A multi-location retailer or clinic group needs the city view; an exporter needs the country list.

Promptwatch also reports more surfaces around the answer itself. Its feature matrix names conversion tracking, crawler logs, Shopping Insights, Ads Radar and a 360 Dashboard, and its pricing page shows a 4.7 out of 5 G2 rating and 1,780 or more brands and agencies using the product.

Otterly AI answers a different reporting question. It includes ChatGPT Ads Tracking on every plan, a Google Looker Studio connector from Standard, Agent Analytics event volumes of 200,000 and 1 million a month and detailed export. Neither reviewed page positions its tracker as a replacement for a data warehouse, and both export cleanly enough for a monthly board slide.

Which is better for a small marketing team?

Otterly AI. A team of three with no writer to spare and a tool budget under $200 a month gets 100 prompts, four engines, unlimited seats and daily tracking on Standard at $189, and can start at $29 to test the method first. The constraint is that every recommendation lands back on your own calendar.

Promptwatch becomes the better answer above about $240 a month, where 150 prompts, 18,000 responses and five AEO articles arrive together. Below that line its single seat and single project on Essential are the binding limits, not the prompt count.

Which is better for a team with no writer?

Promptwatch. Professional at $245 a month is the cheaper route to published pages, because the five AEO articles, the knowledge base and the Webflow, Framer and WordPress integrations remove the step where a recommendation waits for someone to write it.

The trade-off is editorial control. AI-drafted articles still need a subject expert to check claims, prices and regulated language before they go live, and an unreviewed page that an engine cites is a liability rather than a win. A managed service such as Canlah AI carries that review step inside the engagement instead of leaving it on your calendar.

Buy Otterly AI if, buy Promptwatch if

Buy Otterly AI at $29 to $489 a month when seats and engine count decide the plan; buy Promptwatch at $95 to $579 a month when the tracker has to draft the articles as well.

  • Buy Otterly AI if your tool budget is under $200 a month, you need unlimited team members and your market is covered by 15 to 400 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot.
  • Buy Otterly AI if you want the highest prompt ceiling per dollar at the top of the published range, at 400 prompts for $489 a month.
  • Buy Promptwatch if you want 150 prompts and five drafted articles on one $245 invoice, or city level tracking and Ads Radar on Business.
  • Buy Promptwatch if DeepSeek and Grok are on your list and you can live with four tracked models per project.
  • Buy neither on its own if nobody on your team has time to act on what either tracker reports, in which case an agency such as Canlah AI replaces the dashboard and the people behind it. Qwen and Doubao are not part of Canlah AI’s standard tracking, so check engine scope first if your buyers use them.

Where Canlah AI fits

Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. It answers a question the reviewed tracker pages leave with the buyer: who runs the work after a gap appears, and whether the reported number can be re-run by someone else.

Canlah AI’s published measurement protocol locks the client’s buyer intents for the measurement period, probes each one under at least three phrasing rotations per engine and stores every probe as a raw record with the prompt, the full response, the citations and the timestamp. The client owns that archive and the identical pool is re-run monthly. The pricing page runs from 4 to 16 buyer intents, each re-measured monthly on the same engines, with four to 12 articles a month by tier.

The limitation is real. Canlah AI publishes no rate card and scopes each retainer after a free 48-hour snapshot, so it cannot be compared with a $29 plan at a glance, and it offers no self-serve dashboard, no city level view and no seat you can cancel next month. Its own visibility is low: in a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers (8.3%), in none of 93 Gemini answers and in none of 51 browser-rendered Google AI Overviews.

Frequently asked questions

Otterly vs Promptwatch: which is better in 2026?

Neither tracker wins outright in this comparison. Otterly AI takes entry price at $29 a month, engine count at seven with add-ons and unlimited team seats, while Promptwatch takes prompt volume per dollar in the middle tier at $1.63, content execution at five to ten AEO articles a month and city level location tracking on Business. Pick Otterly AI when seats and engine spread decide the plan, and Promptwatch when 150 to 350 prompts and drafted articles matter more than seat count. Teams that want the work done rather than tracked should price a managed service such as Canlah AI against both.

Is Otterly cheaper than Promptwatch?

Otterly AI is cheaper to start, at $29 a month for 15 prompts against $95 a month for 50 prompts on Promptwatch Essential. Per tracked prompt the entry plans are almost identical, at $1.93 and $1.90. Promptwatch is cheaper per prompt in the middle tier and Otterly AI is cheaper per prompt at the top.

Does Promptwatch have a free plan?

No. Promptwatch offers a seven-day free trial on its Essential and Professional plans, not a free tier, and its Business plan is demo-led. Paid plans start at $95 a month for 50 prompts, 6,000 responses and one seat.

Which tracks more AI engines, Otterly or Promptwatch?

Otterly AI can reach seven engines by adding Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini to its four included engines. Promptwatch tracks four models per project on every tier, chosen from a list of eight that includes DeepSeek and Grok. Counting selectable models, Promptwatch shows more; counting models tracked at once, Otterly AI allows more.

Do Otterly or Promptwatch track Qwen or Doubao?

Neither vendor named Qwen or Doubao on the pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. DeepSeek appears in Promptwatch’s model list and was not named on Otterly AI’s reviewed pricing page. That describes public positioning on one date, so confirm current coverage with each vendor.

Can Otterly or Promptwatch write the content for me?

Promptwatch includes five AEO articles a month on Professional and ten on Business, plus agent credits and CMS integrations. Otterly AI produces recommendations and GEO URL audits, and article generation was not found on its reviewed pages. In both cases a person on your side still reviews, approves and publishes the page. Canlah AI publishes four to 12 articles a month by tier as part of a managed engagement, with the review inside the retainer.

How is Canlah AI different from Otterly AI and Promptwatch?

Otterly AI and Promptwatch sell software your team operates. Canlah AI is a Singapore agency that locks a query pool, probes it under repeated phrasings, keeps every raw answer as client-owned evidence and then does the on-site and off-site work. Teams that want their own dashboard and a card-payable monthly price should choose a tracker instead.

Method and sources

Otterly AI and Promptwatch were compared on six dimensions using their own public pricing and product pages, checked on September 23, 2026. Cost per prompt was calculated from published monthly prices and published prompt counts, and response counts were checked against the prompts multiplied by four models multiplied by 30 days. The review did not use paid accounts, independently test either dashboard, run prompts through either tool or confirm commercial terms.

  • Otterly AI pricing. Tier prices, annual discount, prompt volumes, included engines, add-ons, audits, Agent Analytics and team terms.
  • Otterly AI stability study. Prompt count, answer volume and the variation figure for 10 versus 100 prompts.
  • Promptwatch pricing. Tier prices, prompts, responses, agent credits, AEO articles, projects, seats, model list, location tracking and G2 rating.
  • Promptwatch pricing page FAQ, reviewed September 23, 2026. Its statement that data is collected by scraping the user interfaces of the LLMs.
  • Canlah AI GEO services and pricing. Measurement protocol, query pool, rotations, tiers and article volumes.
  • Canlah AI self-audit and probe archive, anonymised, September 7, 2026. Self-visibility figures.

Do not choose between Otterly AI and Promptwatch from this comparison alone. Run the same ten buyer prompts through the Otterly AI trial and the Promptwatch trial in the same week, then compare the raw answers, the number of seats you actually need and what each tool lets you export.
