HubSpot AI Visibility Tool Review & Best Alternatives for 2026

A HubSpot AI visibility tool review: what the free AEO Grader scores, where the $50 tracker stops and six alternatives for 2026, led by Canlah AI.

Two dark cards side by side, the front one edged with indigo light

This review covers the HubSpot AI visibility tool in three parts: the free AEO Grader, the $50-a-month AEO tracker behind it and the Marketing Hub bundle that carries both. It then ranks the alternatives worth a shortlist when three engines and one run a day stop counting as evidence. All pages were reviewed on September 23, 2026.

Quick answer

Canlah AI ranks first among the HubSpot AI visibility tool alternatives in this comparison, for teams that need re-verifiable measurement across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers and someone to close the gaps it finds. The HubSpot AI visibility tool is two products under one name: the free AEO Grader, which scores brand perception out of 100 across five weighted dimensions, and HubSpot AEO, which tracks 25 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for $50 a month, or $45 on annual billing. That pairing is the cheapest credible on-ramp in the category for a team already inside HubSpot, and the narrowest: three engines, one daily run per prompt per engine, and a grader that asks models what they remember rather than what they retrieve. The five other alternatives ranked below are Otterly AI for a published price ladder, Profound for enterprise governance, Peec AI for more models per dollar, Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit for teams already on Semrush and Ahrefs Brand Radar for category-wide benchmarking.

This is an editorial review based on public product, pricing and documentation pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not a controlled test of tool accuracy.

Disclosure: Canlah AI is one of the alternatives below, and we place ourselves first. We compete with HubSpot AEO, so this is not a neutral review. Competitor descriptions come from public product pages and were not verified through paid accounts or private demonstrations.

What is the HubSpot AI visibility tool?

HubSpot AEO is an answer engine optimization product that tracks how often a brand appears in AI answers across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, built on technology HubSpot acquired with XFunnel and announced on October 31, 2025. Every AEO page in HubSpot’s knowledge base still carries a Beta label.

Three things share the AEO name, and buyers confuse them. The AEO Grader, also published as AI Search Grader, is a free one-time diagnostic returning a composite score out of 100 with no account required. HubSpot AEO is the paid tracker at $50 a month. AEO in Marketing Hub is the same tracking included with Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, where recommendations draw on CRM data and become a blog or LinkedIn draft inside the platform. A fourth free asset, AI Search Sensor, tracks industry trends rather than your own brand.

The paid tool reports four things: a brand visibility score, prompt-level tracking with the exact response each engine returned, prioritised recommendations and citation analysis split by domain and by content type. HubSpot states that it grew leads from AI by 1,850% running the product on its own brand.

HubSpot AEO use cases and strengths

HubSpot AEO is strongest when the team measuring AI visibility is the same team that publishes the content, and both already live in HubSpot. Four strengths stand out.

  • Price and distribution. At $50 a month with a 28-day free trial and no other subscription required, it undercuts most dedicated platforms, and it is included with Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise.
  • Prompt suggestions from business context. HubSpot generates 8 to 15 suggested prompts at a time from brand, competitor, product and ICP details, and Professional and Enterprise accounts draw on CRM data. Each prompt carries a language and a buying-journey phase.
  • Citation analysis with content types. The dashboard breaks citations into top domains, owned versus competitor share, citations by channel and by content type, including listicles, comparison articles, user reviews and documentation. That report tells a content team which format to produce, not only which page is missing.
  • Answer-level access and an API. Prompt tracking shows the exact response each engine returned, and the beta AEO API exposes tracked prompts, run histories and recommendations, with each run recording total citations, owned mentions and competitor mentions.

A tool that hands back raw runs through an API is auditable in a way a composite score is not, and few products at this price publish one. Canlah AI applies the same test to itself.

Where the HubSpot AI visibility tool stops: honest limits

HubSpot AEO is a monitoring layer priced for volume, which helps new buyers but sets hard boundaries. Four limits matter most.

  • Three named engines. The supported list is ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed pages. In Singapore, AI Overviews is the surface most buyers meet first, and the Chinese engines decide visibility for anyone selling into Greater China.
  • One run per prompt per engine per day. The standalone plan allows 25 prompts and 2,500 answers a month, and 25 prompts across three engines for 30 days is already 2,250 answers, leaving no room for a second run of the same prompt. A single daily draw is enough for a portfolio trend and weak evidence that one prompt moved.
  • The Grader measures memory, not retrieval. HubSpot’s product page states that the Grader runs pre-set queries on your behalf, with ChatGPT and Gemini pulling from training data and only Perplexity from live search. A brand can therefore score well and still be absent from the live answers its buyers receive.
  • Model naming is inconsistent across HubSpot’s own pages. The AI Search Grader page names GPT-5.4 mini, the AEO Grader comparison page names GPT-5.2 in its body and GPT-4o in one answer, and the beta API documentation lists Claude among example assistants. Buyers who must state which model produced a number should confirm it in-app.

“Not found on reviewed page” means the provider’s public materials did not name that capability when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that the capability is absent. This is the only sense in which absence is reported anywhere on this page, for HubSpot and for every alternative below.

HubSpot AEO pricing and plans

HubSpot AEO pricing starts at $50 a month for 25 prompts, three engines and 2,500 answers, and the same tracking is included with Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Prompt capacity is the variable that moves the bill.

HubSpot AEO plans and included capacity, public pages reviewed September 23, 2026 (USD).

Plan Price per month Prompts included Answers per month Engines Notable inclusions Main point to verify
AEO Grader Free Pre-set queries, unlimited runs Not stated on reviewed page ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity Score out of 100, five dimensions, no account Scores training-data perception, not live answers
HubSpot AEO standalone $50 ($45 annual) 25 2,500 ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity 28-day trial, prompt tracking, citation analysis 2,500 answers buy one daily run per prompt per engine, with no repeat
AEO in Marketing Hub Professional Included 25 2,500 Same three CRM-informed prompts, one-click blog and LinkedIn drafts Tied to a paid Professional seat; drafts spend HubSpot Credits
AEO in Marketing Hub Enterprise Included 50 5,000 Same three Higher limits, business units, CRM-informed prompts Confirm the per-business-unit limit in-app before splitting brands
Answers limit increase $20 +10 +1,000 Same three Stackable on any of the three paid options Partner-guide figure; confirm on HubSpot’s pricing page

Source: HubSpot AEO product, AI Search Grader and knowledge base pages reviewed September 23, 2026. Tier capacities and the $20 add-on come from a HubSpot partner implementation guide reviewed the same day; confirm current limits on HubSpot’s pricing page before buying.

Two costs sit outside the table. Multiple brands need multiple instances at $50 a month each. Generating a blog post from a recommendation consumes HubSpot Credits from the shared account pool, reported by the same partner guide at 1,000 credits per post.

What the AEO Grader can and cannot measure

The AEO Grader measures brand perception in training data across five weighted dimensions, and HubSpot says so plainly on its own comparison page. Sentiment Analysis is worth up to 40 points, Presence Quality 20, Brand Recognition 20, Share of Voice 10 and Market Competition 10. It sends a brand name, location, industry and product description to three models, asks each how it characterises the brand, then cross-validates one composite score in under two minutes.

That design answers a real question: what the models already believe about a brand. It does not answer the question most buyers think they are asking, which is whether the brand appears in the answers a customer receives when asking a purchase question. The five dimensions carry no citation frequency against a defined query pool, no per-engine breakdown of who else was named and no record that can be re-run later on the same terms. HubSpot is explicit about the boundary and routes graduates to the paid tracker. Canlah AI treats that line, between a perception score and a measurement, as the whole difference.

A high Grader score with low live visibility is common for brands with strong historical press and thin current content, while a low score for a young brand reflects training-data thinness rather than a fixable on-site problem. Because sentiment carries 40 of the 100 points, one well-cited negative thread can move the score more than a month of publishing. Canlah AI reports mention rates against a fixed query pool for that reason.

HubSpot AEO alternatives compared

The right HubSpot AEO alternative comes down to why you are leaving: more engines, deeper sampling per prompt, enterprise controls or execution. The table ranks them on those axes, with HubSpot AEO as the baseline.

Comparison of six HubSpot AEO alternatives, public product pages reviewed September 23, 2026.

1. Canlah AI: best overall alternative to HubSpot AEO

Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. Where HubSpot sells a score inside the CRM, Canlah AI sells a measurement protocol plus the team that acts on it.

Canlah AI ranks first in this comparison because its published measurement protocol answers the two questions a single daily run leaves open: how deep the sample was, and whether anyone can check it. Each engagement locks the client’s selected buyer intents, so queries cannot be swapped mid-stream to flatter a chart. Every query is probed under at least three phrasings on each engine, because one intent worded two ways returns two answers. Every probe is stored as a raw record with the full prompt, response, citations and timestamp, and the archive belongs to the client. Citation frequency is reported as a range and re-run monthly under the identical protocol.

Best for

B2B SaaS, export-focused and evidence-sensitive brands that need one team to measure and execute AI visibility work, including brands whose buyers sit in Google AI Overviews or ask in Chinese.

Limitations

Canlah AI is an agency, not a $50 seat. It publishes no rate card: the pricing page scopes each retainer against the gap a free 48-hour snapshot reveals, so a glance comparison with HubSpot AEO is impossible. Published Singapore SEO and GEO retainers run about S$840 to S$4,200 a month in 2026, two orders above a HubSpot AEO subscription. Foundation tracks 4 buyer intents, Authority 8 and Dominance 16, each re-measured monthly on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Its own AI visibility is also modest. In a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers, or 8.3%, in none of 93 Gemini answers and in none of 51 browser-rendered Google AI Overviews. A marketing team that only wants a cheap trend line next to its CRM should buy HubSpot AEO instead.

What to verify

Ask for a dated sample record showing the prompt, the phrasing rotation, the engine, the full answer, the cited sources and the timestamp. Confirm which buyer intents your tier includes; Perplexity and Chinese engines are not part of standard tracking.

Verdict: The strongest HubSpot AEO alternative in this comparison when a number has to survive scrutiny and someone has to close the gap. If the requirement is a dashboard beside your contact records, HubSpot remains the cheaper buy.

2. Otterly AI: best for a published price ladder

Otterly AI publishes every tier, add-on engine and prompt pack, from $29 a month for 15 prompts to $489 for 400. Its base engines are ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude as add-ons from $9 to $439 a month by tier.

Best for

Small teams outside HubSpot that want AI Overviews coverage and a price they can read without a sales call.

Limitations

Adding the three optional engines to a $189 Standard plan takes the monthly bill to $416 for 100 prompts. DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed pages, and repeated sampling of the same prompt was not found there either.

What to verify

Confirm which engines your tier includes before comparing the headline price with HubSpot’s $50 plan.

Verdict: The closest like-for-like swap for a team that wants AI Overviews without moving CRM.

3. Profound: best for enterprise programmes

Profound sells answer engine monitoring, agents and prompt-volume data. Its pricing page lists a free trial running 50 prompts daily for seven days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then a custom Enterprise plan tracking up to nine engines including DeepSeek.

Best for

Large organisations needing all-time history, exports, an API, SSO and SOC 2 paperwork in one contract.

Limitations

Enterprise pricing is quoted rather than published, and Profound’s pricing page places all-time history, exports and the API in the Enterprise tier rather than the trial. Repeat sampling per prompt was not found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Ask how many runs sit behind each daily data point and whether exports include full answer text.

Verdict: The governance pick in this comparison, at many times the HubSpot price, and a software programme rather than a delivery team.

4. Peec AI: best for more models per dollar

Peec AI sells Starter, Pro and Advanced at $95, $245 and $495 a month for 50, 150 and 350 prompts, with three models selectable from six on self-serve and up to 13 on Enterprise. The list includes DeepSeek and Qwen, and countries and languages carry no extra charge.

Best for

Agencies and mid-market teams needing multi-country tracking and a longer model list than HubSpot’s three.

Limitations

Self-serve plans track three models at a time, and an extra model adds $35 to $165 a month by tier. Doubao was not found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Model prompts times models times cadence against the credit allowance before signing.

Verdict: More engine choice per dollar than HubSpot AEO in this comparison, with the CRM link and the delivery work left to your own team.

5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: best for teams already on Semrush

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain and tracks 25 custom prompts daily across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. Extra users cost another $99 licence each, and 50 more prompts cost $60.

Best for

SEO teams that want AI visibility reported beside keyword rankings in a suite they already pay for.

Limitations

Twenty-five prompts is the same small panel as HubSpot AEO at double the price, and seat licensing penalises cross-functional ownership.

What to verify

Check whether your Semrush plan includes the toolkit or bills it separately per domain.

Verdict: The natural pick when SEO, not the CRM, is the home of the work.

6. Ahrefs Brand Radar: best for category-wide benchmarking

Ahrefs Brand Radar runs an index of search-backed prompts through six AI surfaces, including AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, and states that it stores every response. The index costs $199 a month, with custom prompts priced separately.

Best for

Teams that want a whole category’s AI share without writing a prompt panel first.

Limitations

Index prompts are picked by Ahrefs rather than written from your buyer research, and custom prompt tracking is a separate line item on top of the $199.

What to verify

Ask how many indexed prompts match your category and market.

Verdict: The broadest view in this comparison, and the one built on an index rather than your own buyer questions.

Otterly vs HubSpot AEO

Otterly vs HubSpot AEO is a choice between engine coverage and platform gravity. HubSpot AEO costs $50 a month for 25 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and writes recommendations into the tool that holds your contacts and content. Otterly AI costs $29 for 15 prompts or $189 for 100, and its base set includes Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot, which were not found on HubSpot’s reviewed pages.

HubSpot’s own comparison page presents Gemini as a gap in Otterly.ai. Otterly AI’s pricing page lists Gemini as a paid add-on from $9 a month, so the fairer statement is that Gemini is included with HubSpot AEO and billed separately by Otterly AI. Buyers already on Marketing Hub Professional get the HubSpot tracking at no extra charge, which usually settles it.

How to choose between HubSpot AEO and its alternatives

Pick HubSpot AEO if the work lives where your CRM lives; pick an alternative when the reason for leaving is specific.

  • Choose HubSpot AEO if you run Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, or want the cheapest credible tracker with recommendations attached.
  • Choose Canlah AI if you need evidence you can re-run and audit, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode coverage, or a team that closes the gaps.
  • Choose Otterly AI if you want AI Overviews and Copilot in the base plan at a published price.
  • Choose Profound if you are an enterprise that needs retention, exports and security paperwork.
  • Choose Peec AI if you need multi-country tracking and more models per dollar.
  • Choose Semrush or Ahrefs if the work belongs to an SEO team that already pays for the suite.

Whatever you pick, insist on seeing raw answers and cited URLs alongside any composite score, because you cannot fix visibility you cannot trace to a cause.

Frequently asked questions

Is the HubSpot AI visibility tool worth it?

HubSpot AEO is worth it for teams already inside HubSpot that want 25 daily-tracked prompts, citation analysis and prioritised recommendations for $50 a month, or at no extra charge on Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. It is less suited to buyers who need Google AI Overviews, Chinese engines, repeated sampling or someone to implement the fixes.

How much does HubSpot AEO cost?

HubSpot AEO cost $50 a month on September 23, 2026, or $45 with annual billing, for 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity with 2,500 answers a month. A 28-day trial is offered, Marketing Hub Enterprise includes 50 prompts and 5,000 answers, and a partner guide reports extra capacity at $20 a month per 10 prompts.

Does HubSpot AEO track Google AI Overviews or AI Mode?

HubSpot’s product and knowledge base pages name ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity as the supported answer engines. Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot were not found on those pages when they were reviewed on September 23, 2026. That describes public positioning rather than tested capability, so confirm current coverage with HubSpot.

Is the HubSpot AEO Grader accurate?

The AEO Grader is a perception score, not a live visibility measurement, so accuracy is the wrong test. HubSpot states that ChatGPT and Gemini answer from training data while Perplexity uses live search, and sentiment carries 40 of the 100 points. Treat it as a snapshot of what models already believe, then measure live answers against your own query pool.

Do I need a HubSpot subscription to use HubSpot AEO?

No. The standalone product costs $50 a month and requires no other HubSpot subscription, and the free AEO Grader requires no account at all. HubSpot states that AEO works regardless of where your website is hosted, so its CMS is not a dependency.

How is Canlah AI different from HubSpot AEO?

HubSpot AEO is software that runs your prompts once per engine per day and reports a trend inside the CRM. Canlah AI is an agency that locks the client’s selected buyer intents, probes each under at least three phrasings, re-measures them monthly, stores every answer as a raw record and then executes the on-site and off-site work. Canlah AI costs more, covers Google AI Overviews and AI Mode but not Perplexity, and is scoped per engagement.
