Rankscale vs Rankshift in 2026: Which AI Rank Tracker Is Better?

Rankscale vs Rankshift on price: Rankscale starts at $20 a month for 17+ engines, Rankshift at $92 a month for 150 prompts a day and a 30-day trial.

Two dark panels facing each other, one of them lit indigo

Quick answer

Rankscale is the better AI rank tracker in this comparison for teams that want the widest engine list at the lowest price. Essentials starts at $20 a month and every paid tier carries 17+ engines, including DeepSeek and Grok, with no per-engine upsell tier on the reviewed page.

Rankshift is better for teams that need volume and drafting in one subscription. Starter costs $92 a month for 150 prompts a day, unlimited projects and seats, a content brief generator and an AI content writer, after a 30-day free trial.

At the first working tier the two buy different things, not different amounts of the same thing: Rankscale Pro at $99 covers about 40 prompts a day on four engines, while Rankshift Starter at $92 covers 150 prompts a day on about two. Across the two vendors reviewed, published monthly plans run from $20 to $780, depending on engine count, prompt volume and whether content drafting is bundled. Teams that want the measurement run and the gaps closed for them, rather than a third dashboard, may prefer a managed service such as Canlah AI.

This is an editorial comparison based on public pricing and product pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. Prices are list prices in US dollars on monthly billing. It is not a controlled test of either tool’s accuracy.

Disclosure: Canlah AI publishes this comparison and sells a managed alternative to both tools. We compete with Rankscale and Rankshift, so this is not a neutral review. What we say about both tools comes from their public materials, and neither was tested through a paid account.

Neither tool does the work it finds. Both vendors sell self-serve software with unlimited seats, so the choice between them is a choice between two metering designs, not between software and service. Canlah AI is named in this comparison only as the managed alternative, and it is not scored in the table above.

Round 1: Entry price — Rankscale wins

Rankscale wins on entry price at $20 a month for Essentials, against $92 a month for Rankshift Starter, a gap of $72 before either team has tracked a single prompt. Rankscale publishes Essentials as a fourth tier below its three main pricing cards, which is where that $20 floor sits.

Published plans, Rankscale and Rankshift, reviewed September 23, 2026, monthly billing in US dollars.

Tier step Rankscale Rankshift What the step actually buys
Entry Essentials, $20, credit allowance not found on reviewed page Starter, $92, 150 prompts a day, 9,500 credits One tracked brand, not a reporting programme
Working Pro, $99, 1,200 credits, 10 dashboards, 50 page audits Professional, $210, 350 prompts a day, 22,000 credits The first tier either vendor scopes for daily tracking
Upper Growth, $385, 5,500 credits, 50 dashboards, 200 page audits Business, $473, 850 prompts a day, 53,000 credits Agency volume; Rankscale first opens its REST API here
Top published Enterprise, $780, 12,000 credits, 100 dashboards Enterprise, custom, with SSO and an account manager Rankshift moves to a custom quote; Rankscale still lists a price
Annual billing Saves 15%: $204, $1,009.80, $3,927 and $7,956 a year Saves 10%: $82, $189 and $425 a month A year of commitment, and a discount that differs by five points

Source: Rankscale pricing page and Rankshift pricing page, both reviewed September 23, 2026. Rankshift also lists euro and pound prices, from €77 a month on Starter.

The Essentials allowance is the one number the comparison cannot settle. Rankscale’s plan comparison table renders its Essentials credits, dashboards and page audits through a script, and those values did not appear in the reviewed page markup, so treat $20 as a confirmed price with an unconfirmed allowance.

Round 2: Prompt volume per dollar — Rankshift wins

Rankshift wins on volume: Starter allows 150 prompts a day for $92, against about 40 prompts a day on four engines for Rankscale Pro at $99. That is a 3.75-fold difference in prompts for a dollar less.

The arithmetic is worth doing once, because both vendors meter in credits rather than prompts. Rankscale states the conversion on its pricing page: each engine query costs a fraction of a credit, typically 0.25, so 1,200 credits on Pro become 4,800 engine answers and 5,500 credits on Growth become 22,000. Unused credits roll over, up to two or three times the monthly allocation depending on tier.

Rankshift publishes both a prompt cap and a credit pool, but the rate between them was not found on the reviewed page. Starter lists 150 prompts a day and 9,500 credits a month. Running the full 150 prompts daily for 30 days is 4,500 prompt-runs, so the credit pool covers those runs across roughly two engines if one credit buys one engine answer. On that reading Starter costs about $0.010 per tracked answer against about $0.021 on Rankscale Pro, but the reading is an inference, so confirm the conversion during the 30-day trial before budgeting on it.

Volume is not evidence. Both tools run a prompt once per engine per scheduled check, so 150 shallow prompts and 40 shallow prompts share the same weakness: a single answer that changes overnight may be sampling noise rather than a visibility movement.

Round 3: Engine coverage — Rankscale wins

Rankscale wins on engine coverage with 17+ engines named on every paid plan, including DeepSeek, Grok and Mistral, against nine named by Rankshift. Rankscale’s pricing page repeats the same engine list under Essentials, Pro, Growth and Enterprise, with no per-engine upsell tier on the reviewed page, which is unusual in this price band.

Rankshift’s named set is ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, Meta AI and Mistral. Meta AI is the one engine in this comparison not found on Rankscale’s reviewed pages, so a brand whose buyers ask inside WhatsApp or Instagram has a reason to prefer Rankshift.

Chinese engines are thin on both sides and decisive for APAC sellers. Rankscale names DeepSeek on every tier, while DeepSeek was not found on Rankshift’s reviewed pages. Qwen, Doubao and Tencent Yuanbao were not found on either vendor’s reviewed pages, so a brand selling into Greater China will need a second source of coverage whichever tool it buys.

Breadth also costs money under a credit meter. On Rankscale Pro, tracking one prompt daily across all ten engines listed on the pricing card consumes 75 credits a month, so the full engine list supports about 16 prompts a day rather than 40. Wide coverage and deep coverage draw on the same pool.

Round 4: Sampling cadence — Rankscale wins

Rankscale wins on cadence because its scheduler runs from hourly to monthly with optional bi-cadence, while Rankshift publishes daily or weekly prompt refresh. Hourly scheduling is the only setting in this comparison that lets a team watch an answer move during a launch day rather than after it.

The trade-off is the same credit pool. An hourly schedule on one prompt across four engines costs 720 credits a month at 0.25 credits a query, which is 60% of the entire Pro allowance for a single prompt. Hourly is a diagnostic setting for a handful of revenue questions, not a default.

Rankshift’s fixed daily or weekly refresh is the more predictable design for a team that reports monthly. It removes the temptation to spend an allowance on cadence and leaves that allowance for prompt breadth, which matches how its plans are written.

Round 5: Seats, projects and trial — Rankshift wins

Rankshift wins on team and trial terms: every plan carries unlimited projects and unlimited seats plus a 30-day free trial with no credit card, against a 7-day free trial and 10 brand dashboards on Rankscale Pro. For an agency, the dashboard slot is the binding constraint, and Rankscale sells extra slots inside the app rather than bundling them.

Rankscale answers the agency case higher up the price list. Growth at $385 a month adds white-labelled dashboard links, REST API access, lifetime affiliate commissions, a listing in the partner agency directory, accelerator webinars and a private Slack channel. Rankshift’s equivalent is structural rather than programmatic: unlimited projects on a $92 plan.

Thirty days also buys something a feature table cannot show. A 30-day window covers a full reporting cycle, so an agency can run a client-ready report inside the trial, while a 7-day window mostly proves that setup works.

Round 6: What happens after the dashboard — Rankshift wins

Rankshift wins on the step after measurement because every tier includes a content brief generator, an AI content writer, crawler analytics and ChatGPT ads tracking, so a finding becomes a draft inside the same subscription. Its own comparison article frames Rankscale as a tracker that stops at the diagnosis, which is a competitor’s framing but matches both public feature lists.

Rankscale answers the same question with analysis rather than production. Page audits run 94+ technical checkpoints against any URL, query fan-out shows the internal searches an engine runs before answering, and Scout recommendations summarise where visibility is being lost. Shopping analysis and ad analytics cover sponsored placements in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Copilot, and equivalent sponsored-placement coverage was not found on Rankshift’s reviewed pages.

Neither capability is execution. A brief is not a published page, an audit is not a fixed template, and both vendors leave the writing, the schema, the internal links and the off-site work with your team. That division of labour is the reason a managed service such as Canlah AI sits in a different price band.

Which is better for a small in-house SEO team?

Rankscale. A team of two or three tracking one brand gets 17+ engines from $20 a month, hourly cadence when a launch needs it and a page audit tool that draws on no prompt budget, and it will not use 150 prompts a day.

Rankshift becomes the better choice at the point where the team stops reading dashboards and starts publishing against them. Unlimited projects, a 30-day trial and a brief generator matter more than an engine count once a content calendar exists, and an agency running six client brands hits Rankscale’s 10-dashboard Pro ceiling before it hits any credit limit.

Both share one limit worth stating plainly. Each runs a prompt once per engine per scheduled check. A sampling protocol that turns a single answer into a defensible range, and a raw answer archive a procurement team can re-run, were not found on either vendor’s reviewed pages. Canlah AI answers that gap with repeated probes rather than a lower price, which is a different purchase.

Where Canlah AI fits

Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. It is not a cheaper Rankscale or a cheaper Rankshift. It is the option for teams that do not want to operate a credit budget at all.

Canlah AI locks a pool of buyer queries for the contract period and probes each one repeatedly rather than once, storing every answer with its prompt, full response, citations and timestamp. The published tiers show the cadence directly: Foundation tracks 4 buyer intents, Authority 8 and Dominance 16, each re-measured monthly on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. The same team then does the on-site, content and off-site work the measurement calls for, and a free 48-hour AI visibility snapshot comes before any quote.

The limitation is real and cuts against a price comparison. Canlah AI does not publish a rate card, so you cannot set it against $20 a month at a glance, and you receive an evidence archive rather than a login where you add prompts at will. Its own AI visibility is also low: in a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers, or 8.3%, and in none of 93 Gemini answers.

Buy Rankscale if, buy Rankshift if

Buy Rankscale if the engine list is the decision and the budget is under $100 a month. The other conditions sort as follows.

  • Buy Rankscale if you need DeepSeek, Grok or Mistral tracked without an add-on, or want to start at $20 a month.
  • Buy Rankscale if you need hourly sampling on a small set of revenue questions, or page audits with 94+ checkpoints that draw on no prompt budget.
  • Buy Rankscale if you sell into shopping and sponsored surfaces and want ad analytics for ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Copilot.
  • Buy Rankshift if you track many prompts, many projects or many clients, since unlimited projects and seats start at $92 a month.
  • Buy Rankshift if you want MCP and API access on the entry plan rather than at $385 a month.
  • Buy Rankshift if a 30-day trial that covers a full reporting cycle is worth more than a lower list price.
  • Choose Canlah AI if you need repeated sampling, raw answers you can re-run, monthly re-measurement, or a team that closes the gaps it reports.

Frequently asked questions

Rankscale vs Rankshift: which is cheaper?

Rankscale is cheaper to start. Essentials costs $20 a month and Pro costs $99, against $92 a month for Rankshift Starter. Per tracked prompt, Rankshift is cheaper at the working tier, because Starter allows 150 prompts a day while Rankscale Pro supports about 40 a day on four engines.

Does Rankshift track DeepSeek, Qwen or Doubao?

No. DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao were not found on Rankshift’s reviewed pages, which name ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, Meta AI and Mistral. Rankscale names DeepSeek on every tier, and Qwen and Doubao were not found on its reviewed pages either.

How many prompts does Rankscale Pro actually track?

Rankscale Pro includes 1,200 credits a month, and each engine query typically costs 0.25 credits, which is up to 4,800 engine answers. That is about 40 prompts tracked daily across four engines, or about 16 prompts daily across the ten engines listed on the pricing card.

Is the Rankshift 30-day trial really free?

Rankshift’s pricing and homepage state a 30-day trial with no credit card required and cancellation at any time. Rankscale offers a 7-day Pro trial with no charge until day seven. Confirm current trial terms at signup, since both vendors revise their plan pages between reviews.

Rankscale or Rankshift for an agency?

Rankshift for most agencies, because unlimited projects and unlimited seats start at $92 a month, while Rankscale Pro includes 10 brand dashboards and sells extra slots separately. Rankscale becomes competitive at Growth, $385 a month, which adds white-label dashboards, a REST API, a partner directory listing and affiliate commissions.

How is Canlah AI different from Rankscale and Rankshift?

Rankscale and Rankshift are self-serve trackers that run your prompts on a schedule and report what changed. Canlah AI is an agency that probes a locked query pool repeatedly, hands over the raw evidence archive and then does the GEO work. It costs more, is scoped per engagement after a free 48-hour snapshot and does not publish a rate card.

Method and sources

Rankscale and Rankshift were compared from their public pricing, product and documentation pages, checked on September 23, 2026. The comparison is editorial and based on public documentation, not on paid accounts or tested output. Per-prompt and per-answer figures are editorial arithmetic from list prices, published credit allowances, the stated 0.25 credits per engine query on Rankscale and a 30-day month. Rankshift’s credit-to-answer rate was not found on its reviewed pages, so figures that depend on it are marked as inferences.

Do not choose from this comparison alone. Load the same ten buyer prompts into both trials, then compare the raw answers, the cited sources and what each tool lets you export.
