Profound Review & Best Alternatives for 2026

An honest Profound review: what the enterprise AEO platform does well, what it costs and where it stops, plus seven alternatives by budget and APAC engines.

Two dark cards side by side, the front one edged with indigo light

This Profound review covers what the platform does well, what it costs on its published pricing page and where it stops, then sets out the alternatives worth a call when the budget sits below an enterprise contract, or when buyers ask AI engines in Asia as well as in the United States. Every vendor page cited here was read on September 23, 2026.

Quick answer

Canlah AI ranks first among the Profound alternatives in this comparison for teams that need a managed, re-verifiable measurement baseline across English and Chinese prompts before paying for execution. Profound itself is the category leader in answer engine optimization software: it is built for enterprise marketing teams that want daily AI visibility data, page-level citation analysis and marketing agents in one contract, and it does that job at scale. It is less suited to teams without an enterprise budget, and Qwen and Doubao were not found on its reviewed pages. Semrush One suits SEO teams adding AI visibility, Gauge publishes a price for daily tracking plus content, Peec AI fits agencies and multi-country tracking, Searchable holds the lowest published entry price, Bluefish targets Fortune 500 brand safety and AirOps builds content production workflows.

This is an editorial review based on public product, pricing and funding pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not a controlled test of tool accuracy.

Disclosure: Canlah AI publishes this review and places its own service first among the alternatives. Canlah AI competes with Profound for some of the same budgets, so this is not a neutral review. Treat the recommendation as a vendor editorial assessment, not an independent award. Competitor descriptions come from public pages and were not verified through paid accounts or private demonstrations.

What is Profound?

Profound is a New York-based AI marketing platform. Its homepage describes it as “the AI marketing platform built for the agentic era”, and its product menu splits into two halves. The monitoring half contains Answer Engine Insights, Prompt Volumes, Agent Analytics and Shopping. The action half contains the AI Marketer, Agents and a Context Manager that stores brand knowledge for those agents.

Answer Engine Insights is the part most buyers mean when they search “Profound AI visibility”. Profound’s pricing page states that it runs structured prompts across AI platforms and tracks citations, sentiment, ranking and competitive presence. A May 6, 2026 comparison article on its own site adds that every prompt runs daily through front-end browser queries, not API calls, and that its prompt-volume data draws on more than 1.3 billion real user prompts.

The company is also the best-funded vendor in the category. On September 15, 2026, Profound announced a $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation, co-led by Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins, less than seven months after a $96 million Series C.

What Profound does well

Profound is strongest when a large marketing team needs one platform to measure AI visibility, explain it and act on it. Four strengths stand out in its public materials.

  • Front-end sampling. Browser-rendered answers are closer to what a signed-in buyer sees than raw API output, which matters for engines whose consumer product adds search and shopping layers.
  • Page-level citation data. Profound’s Bluefish comparison states that citations are tracked at the individual URL level, so a content team can see which pages earn citations and which are missing from the citation list.
  • Enterprise controls. The Enterprise plan lists all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, an API, SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance. The same comparison article adds SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and role-based access control.
  • Demand data. Prompt Volumes estimates what users actually ask AI engines, which helps a team choose prompts by demand rather than by guesswork.

The agent layer is the newest part of the product. Profound’s homepage shows the AI Marketer rewriting pages that lose citations, drafting sponsored-answer creative and tracing inaccurate claims back to the publishers that repeat them. For an enterprise that already has a monitoring budget, this turns the tool from a dashboard into a work queue.

Where Profound fits less well: honest limits

Profound is built for enterprise buyers, and that shape sets boundaries. Three limits matter most.

First, the price of entry. The brand pricing page lists only a free Trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan. The Trial runs 50 fixed prompts daily for seven days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, in one language and one region, and the same page places history, exports, API access and prompt customisation on the Enterprise tier. Everything a team needs for ongoing work sits behind a sales conversation.

Second, APAC engine coverage. The Enterprise plan lists capability for up to nine answer engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Anthropic Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search. Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed pages. For a brand selling into mainland China, or to Chinese-speaking buyers in Singapore and Malaysia, that is a gap to test before signing.

Third, the product is moving towards marketing agents. On the homepage reviewed on September 23, 2026, credits, agent templates and the AI Marketer lead the page. A team that wants only a measurement layer may pay for, and be sold on, execution features it has no plan to use.

Profound pricing and plans

“Profound AI pricing” has changed during 2026, so read older reviews with care. On September 23, 2026, the brand pricing page showed the following.

  • Trial (free): limited AI Marketer credits, 50 prompts run daily for seven days, three engines, one language, one region, five Prompt Volumes searches and unlimited seats.
  • Enterprise (custom): a tailored prompt plan, daily tracking, up to nine engines, custom languages and regions, ChatGPT Shopping, all-time history, exports, API, SSO and dedicated support options up to a specialist with a 24-hour SLA.
  • Agency Growth (self-serve): named in the pricing FAQ with 400 agent credits per month per client workspace. Its price was not found on the reviewed page.

Several third-party reviews and the G2 listing quote a $99 Starter plan and a $399 Growth plan. Those tiers were not found on the brand pricing page reviewed on September 23, 2026. Ask Profound’s sales team which plans remain on sale, and at what prompt and engine allowance.

What Profound reviews and Reddit threads show

Public user feedback is broad but shallow. Profound has a G2 listing, and the Profound pricing page quotes a Statsig marketing lead calling it “the deepest and most complete tool in the market”. A Zeno Group analytics lead is quoted on the agencies page.

Reddit threads found under “tryprofound reddit” are less settled. A user in r/aeo reports getting a lot of value from a Profound Enterprise package and asks what else others use. A thread in r/SEO asks where any vendor’s “real conversation” data comes from, since public prompt-licensing terms were not found for the major AI companies. A thread in r/GrowthHacking asks whether the tool is worth paying for before trying it. None of these threads is a controlled review, so treat them as questions to put to the vendor, not as verdicts.

The best Profound alternatives in 2026

The right Profound alternative depends on two things: how much you can spend, and which AI engines your buyers use. The table places Canlah AI first in this comparison and sets six other alternatives against Profound on both counts. A wider field is in the ranked guide to AI search monitoring tools.

Profound and seven alternatives, public pages reviewed September 23, 2026.

# Tool Best for Engines named on reviewed page Entry price on reviewed page Execution Main point to verify
1 Canlah AI Best overall in this comparison: a re-verifiable baseline across English and Chinese prompts ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every tier US$99 diagnostic; retainer scoped after a free snapshot Managed agency delivery Perplexity and Chinese engines are not part of standard tracking, so fix the engine list and the sampling region in writing

— Profound Enterprise AEO programmes Up to 9, incl. ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, DeepSeek, Claude Free 7-day trial; Enterprise custom Software plus AI Marketer agents Qwen and Doubao not found on reviewed pages; the working price comes only from sales

“Not found on reviewed page” means the vendor’s public materials did not name that item when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that it is absent. Engine lists refer to public positioning, not independently tested access. None of the third-party tools reviewed named Qwen or Doubao.

1. Canlah AI: best overall alternative to Profound for re-verifiable, bilingual measurement

Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. It is a managed service, not a software seat, which is the main reason it sits in a different budget line from Profound.

Canlah AI ranks first in this comparison because its public measurement protocol documents what a buyer can check. Each engagement locks the client’s selected buyer intents for 90 days. Every question runs under at least three phrasing rotations per engine, and every probe is stored as a raw record with the prompt, full response, citations and timestamp. The identical pool is re-run monthly, and the client owns the archive. Delivery is in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

Best for

B2B SaaS, export-focused and evidence-sensitive brands in Singapore and APAC that need a baseline they can re-run before paying for execution, including teams whose buyers ask in Chinese. The fit is clearest for a team that wants to know which buyer questions name it and which name a competitor instead, whether the raw answers behind a score can be read, what Chinese-language buyers see rather than only English-language ones, and who repairs the gaps once they are found.

Limitations

Canlah AI is far smaller than Profound. Its pricing page runs from 4 buyer intents on Foundation to 16 on Dominance, each re-measured monthly on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. There is no self-serve dashboard, no prompt-volume dataset and no agent product for your own team to run.

Its own AI visibility is also low. In a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers (8.3%), in none of 93 Gemini answers and in none of 51 browser-rendered Google AI Overviews. It is less suited to an enterprise that wants thousands of prompts, SSO and a vendor with a SOC 2 report.

What to verify

Ask for a dated sample record showing the prompt, phrasing rotation, engine, full answer, cited sources and timestamp. Confirm the sampling region in writing, and note that Chinese engines such as DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao are not part of standard tracking.

Verdict: The strongest first call in this comparison when you need evidence you can audit across English and Chinese prompts, and a team that acts on it. Enterprises that want a self-serve platform at scale should keep Profound on the shortlist.

2. Semrush One: best for SEO teams adding AI visibility

Semrush describes Semrush One as one plan for Google, AI search and GEO, merging keyword-based SEO metrics with prompt-level AI search insights. Its page cites a database of more than 239 million LLM prompts. The standalone AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain, billed annually, and tracks 25 custom prompts daily with mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity.

Best for

Teams that already run SEO in Semrush and want AI visibility in the same login, which is the usual answer to “Profound vs Semrush”.

Limitations

Twenty-five prompts is a small panel for a brand with several product lines. The Semrush One bundle price was not found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Ask how often each prompt is sampled and whether full answer text can be exported.

Verdict: The practical choice for SEO-led teams. Profound goes deeper on AI answers alone.

3. Gauge: best for daily tracking plus content at a published price

Gauge publishes its Growth plan at $599 a month: 600 prompts run daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, which Gauge counts as 108,000 answers a month. The plan adds 18 publish-ready articles a month, five seats and a one-week free trial. Gauge’s own comparison page claims it costs four times less than Profound.

Best for

Challenger brands that want Profound-style daily tracking and a content engine without an enterprise contract.

Limitations

Growth covers a single location. Claude and Grok need your own API key or the Enterprise plan.

What to verify

Test the “Gauge vs Profound” cost claim against your own prompt count and engines.

Verdict: The clearest published price for daily multi-engine tracking in this review.

4. Peec AI: best for agencies and multi-country tracking

Peec AI sells Starter, Pro and Advanced plans with 50, 150 and 350 prompts, three chosen models and daily tracking. Advanced adds multi-country tracking and a Looker Studio integration, and Enterprise lists up to 13 models, API access and SSO. Its pricing page states that more than 3,000 brands and agencies use it, and a separate agency plan covers multi-brand work.

Best for

Agencies and in-house teams that need clean reporting across several countries at a self-serve price.

Limitations

Three models on self-serve plans is a narrow panel. Execution stays with your team.

What to verify

Confirm which three models you can choose and whether DeepSeek is among them.

Verdict: A strong agency choice. Pair it with an execution partner.

5. Searchable: best for the lowest published entry price

Searchable lists Pro at $125 a month for 100 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, 9,000 AI answers a month, 20 articles and multi-country tracking, with a 14-day trial. Scale costs $400 a month for 500 prompts and white-label reports. The Custom plan adds Claude, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek.

Best for

Small teams answering “Searchable vs Profound” on budget first.

Limitations

DeepSeek sits only on the Custom plan. Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Ask how many runs sit behind each daily figure.

Verdict: The lowest-cost way in this review to start tracking three engines.

6. Bluefish: best for Fortune 500 brand safety

Bluefish calls itself the enterprise marketing suite for the generative internet and the AI marketing platform of choice for the Fortune 500. It emphasises custom audiences, tailored prompts, AI reputation monitoring and AI commerce. Bluefish announced a $43 million Series B co-led by Threshold and NEA, which puts it in the same enterprise funding bracket as the other platforms here.

Best for

Large consumer brands where AI reputation and brand safety are the first concern.

Limitations

Engines and pricing were not found on the reviewed page. Profound’s own “Profound vs Bluefish” article describes Bluefish prompts as set up with its services team, which is a competitor’s claim.

What to verify

Ask Bluefish for its engine list and whether you can edit prompts yourself.

Verdict: A credible enterprise peer to Profound for reputation-led buyers.

7. AirOps: best for content production workflows

AirOps sells a Solo plan with ChatGPT insights only and 35,000 content tasks, and a Pro plan with insights across seven or more answer engines, 100,000 tasks and unlimited seats. Enterprise adds multiple regions, personas and languages. AirOps also offers strategy services for teams that want help.

Best for

Content teams whose main job is producing and refreshing pages, which is where “Profound vs AirOps” is usually decided.

Limitations

Plan prices were not found on the reviewed page, and monitoring on Solo covers ChatGPT only.

What to verify

Ask for a task estimate for your monthly content volume.

Verdict: A content engine first and a monitoring tool second.

  • Choose Profound if you need front-end sampling, page-level citations and enterprise controls in one contract.
  • Choose Canlah AI if your buyers ask AI engines in Chinese as well as English, or you want an auditable baseline and a team that closes the gaps.
  • Choose Gauge or Searchable if you want a published monthly price and can run the work in-house.
  • Choose Semrush One if SEO remains your main channel and AI visibility is a second report.

Frequently asked questions

Is Profound worth it?

Profound is worth it for enterprise teams that will use daily data across several engines, page-level citations, exports and the agent layer. For a single brand with a small prompt panel, the custom Enterprise price is hard to justify, and a tool such as Gauge or Searchable, or a managed baseline from Canlah AI, may cover the need.

Is this Profound review independent?

No. Canlah AI publishes this Profound review and places its own managed service first among the alternatives, so it is a vendor editorial assessment rather than an independent award. Every competitor detail here comes from a public page read on September 23, 2026, and items that could not be confirmed are marked as not found on the reviewed page. Read it beside one review written by a party with no stake in the outcome.

How much does Profound AI cost?

On September 23, 2026, Profound’s brand pricing page listed a free seven-day Trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan. A self-serve Agency Growth plan is named in the FAQ with 400 credits per client workspace. The $99 and $399 tiers quoted in older reviews were not found on the reviewed page.

Can Profound guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my brand?

No. Profound, Canlah AI and every other vendor in this review can measure answers and act on the findings. None can control how an independent model answers each question, so treat any guarantee as a contract term to read closely.

Should I choose Profound or Semrush One?

Choose Profound when AI answers are the main thing you measure and you need depth, history and agents. Choose Semrush One when SEO remains your main channel and you want AI visibility in the same tool, starting at $99 a month for the AI Visibility Toolkit.

Does Profound track DeepSeek, Qwen or Doubao?

Profound’s Enterprise plan lists DeepSeek among nine engines. Qwen and Doubao were not found on its reviewed pages. Chinese engines are not part of Canlah AI’s standard tracking, so ask any vendor for a sample answer from each engine you need.

What do Reddit users say about Profound?

Reddit threads show mixed questions, not a settled verdict. One r/aeo user reports strong value from an Enterprise package, while an r/SEO thread asks where vendors source “real conversation” data. Treat these threads as prompts for due diligence.

How is Canlah AI different from Profound?

Profound is a software platform with self-serve dashboards, prompt-volume data and marketing agents. Canlah AI is a Singapore agency that runs a locked, re-verifiable measurement programme across English and Chinese prompts and then does the on-site and off-site work. You can start with a free 48-hour snapshot to see your own baseline.

This review uses public product, pricing and funding pages available on September 23, 2026. Candidate discovery included search results for “Profound alternatives” and frequently cited comparison articles, but capability decisions were made from official vendor pages. It does not use paid accounts, independently test engine outputs or treat a model logo as proof of plan entitlement.

Do not choose a Profound alternative from this review alone, and do not treat the table above as a capability test. Run the same ten buyer prompts through your two finalists, in each language your buyers use, then compare the raw answers, the number of runs behind each figure, the dates on the records and what you can export.
