Promptwatch Review & Best Alternatives for 2026
A Promptwatch review: pricing, the four-model plan cap and sampling depth, plus six alternatives for 2026, led by Canlah AI for re-verifiable evidence.
This Promptwatch review covers what the platform does well, what it costs and where it stops, then ranks the six best alternatives for teams that need more than four models on a plan, deeper sampling per prompt or someone to act on the findings.
Quick answer
Canlah AI ranks first among the Promptwatch alternatives in this review, while Promptwatch itself stays a credible mid-market buy at $95, $245 and $579 a month. Promptwatch is an Amsterdam AI search visibility platform that pairs daily tracking with content agents, and those three published tiers form one of the clearest price ladders in the category. Every plan tracks four models chosen from a list of eleven, and the published response allowance works out to exactly one response per prompt per model per day. Canlah AI leads the alternatives for teams that need visibility numbers they can re-run and audit, with rotated phrasings, raw answer records and an execution team attached. Otterly AI ($29 entry), Writesonic GEO (content plus tracking in one stack), Profound (enterprise governance), Peec AI (agencies needing more models) and Evertune (up to 100 samples per prompt) cover the other common reasons to switch.
This is an editorial review based on public product and pricing pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not a controlled test of tool accuracy.
Disclosure: Canlah AI is one of the alternatives below, and we place ourselves first. We compete with Promptwatch, so this is not a neutral review. Competitor descriptions come from public product pages and were not verified through paid accounts or private demonstrations.
What is Promptwatch?
Promptwatch is an AI search visibility and GEO platform operated by Promptwatch B.V. in Amsterdam, with a second office in New York. Its about page names co-founders Gijs de Groot and Klaas Foppen, dates the launch to April 1, 2025 and states that the platform serves more than 1,840 organisations, naming Duolingo, Fireflies and Monks among them. The same page reports 100M+ data points collected daily, €2 million in annual recurring revenue by May 2026 on €1.2 million of pre-seed funding, and a €6 million seed round announced on July 14, 2026 led by seed + speed Ventures with Blum Ventures and Arches Capital.
The core job is prompt tracking. You enter a brand URL, pick prompts for your category and name competitors, and Promptwatch reports mentions, citations, sentiment and share of voice by model. Its pricing FAQ states that data is collected by scraping the user interfaces of the models rather than through APIs, which matters because an API answer can differ from what a buyer sees in the consumer app. Around that sit crawler logs (Agent Analytics), an agent chat, content gap analysis and AEO article generation that drafts pages from citation data, with publishing integrations for WordPress, Webflow and Framer.
Promptwatch use cases and strengths
Promptwatch is strongest when a mid-market team or agency wants tracking and content drafting in one subscription without an enterprise contract. Four strengths stand out on its public pages.
- Published prices with no sales call on two tiers. Essential and Professional both start a seven-day free trial directly, and every prompt, project and credit limit is listed on the pricing page rather than quoted on request.
- A wide model menu. The supported list covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Meta Llama, DeepSeek, Grok, OpenCode and Claude Code. DeepSeek on a $95 plan is unusual among Western trackers.
- Interface scraping rather than API calls. Promptwatch states that it collects answers from the model interfaces people actually use, which is closer to a buyer’s experience than an API completion.
- Content agents tied to citation data. The AEO article feature drafts pages from the sources the models already cite, and the CMS integrations publish them, so the loop from gap to page sits inside one tool.
Promptwatch also ships the free tools that draw the category’s early buyers: a Chrome extension, an AI brand visibility report and an llms.txt generator. Its homepage lists a 4.7 out of 5 rating on G2.
Where Promptwatch stops: four limits to check
Promptwatch is a monitoring and content layer, which suits mid-market teams but sets four boundaries worth checking before you sign. Each is a scope question, not a quality judgement.
- Four models per plan, on every tier. Essential, Professional and Business all read “Track 4 models” on the pricing page, so the eleven-model list is a menu rather than an entitlement. The pricing FAQ says the opposite, that “every prompt you monitor runs across all supported models at once”. Ask which sentence governs your contract.
- Breadth, not depth, per prompt. The response allowances are 6,000 for 50 prompts, 18,000 for 150 and 42,000 for 350. Each equals prompts times four models times thirty days, which is one response per prompt per model per day. That supports a portfolio trend. It is weaker for deciding whether one high-value prompt really moved.
- One of three Chinese engines. DeepSeek appears on the supported list. Qwen and Doubao were not found on the Promptwatch pages reviewed on September 23, 2026, so a brand selling into mainland China sees a third of that market’s answer surface.
- Content is metered in credits. Essential includes 500 agent credits and no AEO articles, Professional adds five articles a month and Business ten. Volume publishing sits outside the plan.
Promptwatch pricing and plans
Promptwatch pricing is published per tier in US dollars or euros, with prompt volume and agent credits as the main variables and daily tracking on all three plans. Annual billing is offered as a toggle on the pricing page.
Promptwatch plans, pricing page reviewed September 23, 2026 (monthly billing, USD).
| Plan | Price per month | Prompts | Responses a month | Models tracked | Projects and agent credits | AEO articles | Main point to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $95 | 50 | 6,000 | 4 of 11 | 1 project, 500 credits | None | Whether the four model slots can be swapped after setup |
| Professional | $245 | 150 | 18,000 | 4 of 11 | 2 projects, 1,500 credits | 5 a month | Whether unused articles and credits roll over |
| Business | $579 | 350 | 42,000 | 4 of 11 | 5 projects, 2,500 credits | 10 a month | Whether Agentic AI Search Optimization is live or on the roadmap |
Source: Promptwatch pricing page reviewed September 23, 2026. Essential and Professional start a seven-day free trial; Business is sold through a demo. Response figures are the vendor’s published allowances; the per-prompt depth in this review is derived from them.
Two items change the comparison. Country-level tracking is on all three plans, while state and city tracking, Shopping Insights and Ads Radar appear only on Business. Agentic AI Search Optimization, the automated execution layer the company raised its seed round to build, is also listed on Business alone.
The best Promptwatch alternatives in 2026
The right Promptwatch alternative depends on why you are switching: cheaper entry, more models per plan, deeper sampling per prompt, enterprise controls or execution. The table ranks six alternatives on those axes, with Promptwatch shown as the baseline.
Comparison of six Promptwatch alternatives, public product pages reviewed September 23, 2026.
| # | Tool | Best for | Models on reviewed page | Sampling depth | Chinese engines | Entry price | Main point to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Canlah AI | Best overall: re-verifiable evidence plus managed delivery | ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every tier | Rotated phrasings per query per engine; depth set per metric | Not part of standard tracking | Scoped after free 48-hour snapshot | Ask for a dated raw probe record before signing |
| 2 | Otterly AI | Smallest budgets, software only | 4 base, 3 paid add-ons | Daily tracking | Not found on reviewed page | $29 a month, 15 prompts | Price the add-on engines before comparing $29 with $95 |

“Not found on reviewed page” means the vendor’s public materials did not name that capability when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that the capability is absent. Model lists and execution claims refer to public positioning, not independently tested capability.
1. Canlah AI: best overall alternative to Promptwatch
Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. Where Promptwatch sells a dashboard with agents attached, Canlah AI sells a measurement protocol with a delivery team attached.
Canlah AI ranks first in this comparison because its public measurement protocol answers the depth question that one daily run per model leaves open. Each engagement locks the client’s selected buyer intents for 90 days, measures a baseline and re-measures them monthly. Every intent is probed under rotated phrasings on each engine, and sampling depth is calibrated per metric, because mention rates settle quickly while cited-source sets keep moving. Every probe is stored as a raw JSON record carrying the exact prompt, the full response, the citations and a timestamp, and the archive belongs to the client, so a second agency can re-run the same pool and check the numbers.
Best for
B2B SaaS, export-focused and evidence-sensitive brands that need one team to measure and execute AI visibility work, including brands selling across English and Chinese. The typical buyer wants to know whether one high-value prompt really moved or just produced a noisy daily run. The same buyer wants the raw answers behind the score, one team to rewrite the pages, schema and third-party sources once a gap appears.
Limitations
Canlah AI is an agency, not a self-serve seat, and it does not publish a rate card. The pricing page scopes each retainer after a free 48-hour snapshot, so you cannot compare it with Promptwatch Essential at $95 in a single glance. Foundation tracks 4 buyer intents, Authority 8 and Dominance 16, each re-measured monthly on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, so it is not a daily tracker. It also writes no articles for you on a credit meter.
Its own AI visibility is low. In a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers (8.3%), in none of 93 Gemini answers and in none of 51 browser-rendered Google AI Overviews. A usability review of that first rendered report also found classification errors, and the report was held back rather than sent.
What to verify
Ask for a dated sample record showing the prompt, the phrasing rotation, the engine, the full answer, the cited sources and the timestamp. Confirm which buyer intents your tier includes; Chinese engines such as DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao are not part of standard tracking. The Canlah AI AI Info page restates the same protocol in a machine-readable form you can quote back in a contract.
Verdict: Canlah AI is the strongest Promptwatch alternative in this comparison when a number has to survive scrutiny and someone has to close the gap. If you mainly want a cheap daily trend line and drafted articles, Promptwatch remains the simpler buy.
2. Otterly AI: best for the smallest budgets
Otterly AI sells Lite, Standard and Premium at $29, $189 and $489 a month for 15, 100 and 400 prompts, tracking ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot as its base set. Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons priced from $9 to $439 by tier.
Best for
Solo marketers and small teams that want a published price under $100 and unlimited seats before committing to a mid-market contract.
Limitations
Four base engines and three paid add-ons mean a seven-engine Standard plan costs about $416 a month for 100 prompts. Repeated sampling per prompt was not found on the reviewed pages, and the same applies to DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao.
What to verify
Price the add-ons you actually need before comparing the headline $29 with Promptwatch Essential at $95.
Verdict: Cheaper to start than Promptwatch at $29 against $95, and no article generator was found on the reviewed pages. The gap narrows once add-on engines are priced in, at about $416 a month against $245 for Promptwatch Professional.
3. Writesonic GEO: best for content and tracking in one stack
Writesonic GEO is the AI visibility suite inside Writesonic, a Y Combinator-backed content platform founded in 2021, with self-serve plans from $99 a month that track ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and all ten platforms on Enterprise. Its AI Visibility Tracker crawls the model interfaces rather than the APIs, and its article writer and Action Center sit in the same subscription.
Best for
Content-led teams that publish at volume and want tracking, article production and site audits under one login.
Limitations
Self-serve plans cover three engines against Promptwatch’s four chosen from eleven, and the full Action Center is listed only on Enterprise. DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed self-serve pages.
What to verify
Confirm which engines your Writesonic tier includes and whether the Action Center you saw demonstrated is in that tier.
Verdict: A closer match to Promptwatch than any other tool here, and the better pick when the article volume matters more than the engine menu.
4. Profound: best for enterprise programmes
Profound positions itself as an AI marketing platform with answer engine monitoring, agents and prompt-volume data. Its pricing page lists a free trial running 50 prompts daily for seven days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and a custom Enterprise plan tracking up to nine engines.
Best for
Large organisations that need all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, an API, SSO or SAML and SOC 2 paperwork in one contract.
Limitations
The trial carries no history, exports or API access, and Enterprise pricing is quoted rather than published. Repeat sampling per prompt was not found on the reviewed page.
What to verify
Confirm how many runs sit behind each daily data point and whether exports include full answer text.
Verdict: The governance pick. It asks more of procurement than Promptwatch and gives more back to compliance.
5. Peec AI: best for agencies needing more models
Peec AI sells Starter, Pro and Advanced plans with 50, 150 and 350 prompts, unlimited seats and daily tracking, with a separate agency plan covering multiple brands. Its prompt tiers line up almost exactly with Promptwatch’s, which makes it the cleanest like-for-like swap in this review.
Best for
Agencies that want unlimited team members across many client brands without paying per seat.
Limitations
Self-serve plans track three models at a time, one fewer than Promptwatch, and a fourth costs extra. Enterprise raises coverage to up to 13 models with API access and SSO.
What to verify
Ask how long answer-level history is kept on your tier and what a fourth model adds to the monthly price.
Verdict: The natural comparison for an agency reading Promptwatch’s agency plan, and the cleanest like-for-like swap on prompt volume. No content or article module was found on the Peec AI pages reviewed on September 23, 2026.
6. Evertune: best for statistical sampling depth
Evertune states that it samples each prompt up to 100 times per model across 11 AI models, the deepest published per-prompt figure among the tools reviewed here. That is the opposite design choice to Promptwatch’s one response per prompt per model per day.
Best for
Consumer brands and advertisers that need statistically stable visibility rates on a smaller set of high-value prompts.
Limitations
Entry pricing starts at $800 a month, roughly eight times Promptwatch Essential. Raw-answer export and history limits were not found on the reviewed pages.
What to verify
Ask whether 100 samples apply to every model on your plan and whether individual answers can be exported.
Verdict: The sampling leader in this review, at a price that rules out most mid-market teams.
Otterly vs Promptwatch: which is better?
Otterly AI is better for the smallest budgets and Promptwatch is better for model choice and content, and on sampling depth the two are equivalent. Otterly AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts across four fixed engines; Promptwatch starts at $95 for 50 prompts across four models chosen from eleven, including DeepSeek and Grok. Both run roughly one response per prompt per engine per day, so neither resolves whether a single prompt moved.
The comparison turns on add-ons and output. Otterly AI charges $9 to $439 extra for Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude, which pushes a seven-engine Standard plan to about $416 a month against $245 for Promptwatch Professional with 150 prompts. Promptwatch adds five drafted AEO articles at that tier and Otterly AI adds a GEO URL audit and unlimited workspaces instead. Neither publishes the per-prompt repeat count that Canlah AI reports as a range. Otterly AI also publishes a stability study covering 520 prompts and 252,407 answers, which is more measurement research than Promptwatch publishes.
Writesonic vs Promptwatch: which is better?
Writesonic is better for teams that publish articles at volume and Promptwatch is better for teams that want a wider engine menu with lighter content support. Entry prices are close, at $99 for Writesonic Starter and $95 for Promptwatch Essential. Writesonic Starter tracks three fixed engines and includes 15 articles a month; Promptwatch Essential tracks four chosen models and includes none.
Both vendors publish a page arguing the other case, and Writesonic’s own comparison recommends Promptwatch as the cleaner tracker for a solo SEO or a small European team. Treat both pages as sales material and test the two trials against the same prompts.
How to choose between Promptwatch and its alternatives
Pick Promptwatch if you want a mid-market tracker with content agents attached; pick an alternative when the reason for switching is specific. A simple decision path:
- Choose Promptwatch if you want daily tracking, DeepSeek and Grok on the same plan and drafted articles published straight into WordPress, Webflow or Framer.
- Choose Canlah AI if you need evidence you can re-run and audit, rotated phrasings reported as ranges or a team that closes the gaps instead of listing them.
- Choose Otterly AI if the budget is under $100 a month and four engines are enough.
- Choose Writesonic GEO if article volume matters more than the engine menu.
- Choose Profound if procurement needs retention, exports and security documentation.
- Choose Peec AI or Evertune if you need unlimited agency seats or statistically stable rates on a few prompts.
Whatever you pick, insist on seeing raw answers and cited URLs beside any composite score, because you cannot fix visibility you cannot trace to a cause. Promptwatch exposes answers inside its dashboard; Canlah AI hands over the archive itself.
Frequently asked questions
Is Promptwatch worth it?
Promptwatch is worth it for mid-market teams and agencies that want daily tracking across four chosen models, crawler logs and drafted articles in one $95 to $579 subscription. It is less suited to buyers who need repeated sampling per prompt, coverage of Qwen and Doubao or a partner who implements the fixes.
Is this Promptwatch review independent?
No. Canlah AI competes with Promptwatch and places itself first among the alternatives, so this Promptwatch review is a vendor editorial assessment rather than a neutral award. Every capability statement in it is sourced to a public Promptwatch page reviewed on September 23, 2026, so each claim can be checked against the vendor. Read the Promptwatch pricing page and at least one non-competitor review before deciding.
Does Promptwatch offer a free trial?
Yes, on two of the three tiers. The pricing page reviewed on September 23, 2026 starts a seven-day free trial directly on Essential at $95 a month and Professional at $245 a month, while Business at $579 a month is sold through a demo. Confirm the trial length and the plan it applies to before entering a card.
How much does Promptwatch cost?
Promptwatch pricing on September 23, 2026 was $95 a month for Essential with 50 prompts, $245 for Professional with 150 prompts and five AEO articles, and $579 for Business with 350 prompts and ten articles. Essential and Professional start a seven-day free trial; Business is sold through a demo.
How many AI models does Promptwatch track at once?
Four per plan, on every tier. The supported list names eleven models including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Meta Llama, DeepSeek and Grok, but the pricing table reads “Track 4 models” on Essential, Professional and Business. Promptwatch’s own FAQ states that every prompt runs across all supported models at once, so confirm which applies to your contract.
Does Promptwatch track DeepSeek, Qwen or Doubao?
No. DeepSeek is on Promptwatch’s supported model list, but Qwen and Doubao were not found on the pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. That describes public positioning rather than proof of absence, so confirm current coverage with the vendor before buying for a China-facing brand.
How is Canlah AI different from Promptwatch?
Promptwatch is self-serve software that runs your prompts daily and drafts pages from citation data. Canlah AI is an agency that locks a buyer-query pool for 90 days, probes it under rotated phrasings, stores every answer as a raw record the client owns and then executes the on-site and off-site work. Canlah AI costs more and is scoped per engagement rather than priced per tier.
Can one response per prompt per day prove a change in AI visibility?
Not on its own. A single daily response is one draw from a variable answer, so a drop on one prompt can be noise rather than a change. Track enough prompts for a stable portfolio figure, and use repeated sampling or rotated phrasings before acting on a single high-value prompt.
