Writesonic GEO Review & Best Alternatives for 2026

Writesonic GEO review: tracker, Action Center, pricing and limits, plus Promptwatch, Peec AI, Profound, Semrush and Otterly.AI alternatives, led by Canlah AI.

Two dark cards side by side, the front one edged with indigo light

This review covers Writesonic GEO for marketing teams deciding whether a content-writing platform that added AI visibility tracking is the right place to run generative engine optimization. It sets out what the suite measures, what the plans cost and where the execution promise depends on the plan. It then compares six alternatives against Writesonic GEO on public pages reviewed on September 23, 2026.

Quick answer

Canlah AI ranks first among the Writesonic GEO alternatives in this review, for buyers who want re-verifiable measurement and a managed team rather than more software to operate. Writesonic GEO itself is the AI visibility suite inside Writesonic, a Y Combinator-backed AI writing platform founded in 2021, and it tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on self-serve plans from $99 a month, with all 10 AI platforms on Enterprise. Its strength is that tracking, article writing and site audits sit in one subscription. Its full Action Center, which turns findings into tasks, is listed only on Enterprise.

Promptwatch is the closest like-for-like tracker at $95 a month, Peec AI suits mid-market teams that want unlimited seats, Profound fits enterprise programmes, the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit suits teams already paying for Semrush and Otterly.AI has the lowest published entry price at $29 a month.

This is an editorial review based on public product and pricing pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not a controlled test of tool accuracy.

Disclosure: Canlah AI publishes this review and places its own platform first among the alternatives. Canlah AI competes with Writesonic, so treat the recommendation as a vendor editorial assessment, not an independent award. Competitor descriptions come from public product pages and were not verified through paid accounts.

What is Writesonic GEO?

Writesonic GEO is the name buyers and reviewers use for Writesonic’s AI search visibility product, which Writesonic markets as “the AI Search Growth Engine”. Writesonic’s About page describes a company that started in 2021 as a GPT-3 content platform, joined Y Combinator in the S21 batch, raised $2.6 million in 2021 and has been profitable since. The same page claims $2M+ in annual recurring revenue from AI search for Writesonic itself, and its pricing page claims 10,000+ marketing teams as customers.

The GEO suite sits beside the older content products. Writesonic’s product pages list an AI Visibility Tracker, an Action Center, AI Agent Analytics for crawler visits, an AI Search Volume dataset drawn from “over 2 billion conversations”, an AI Ads Tracker and an AI Shopping Tracker. It also keeps the AI Article Writer, an AI Content Agent and an SEO AI Agent. That mix is the point of the product: the tool that finds a visibility gap is the same tool that writes the page meant to close it.

What Writesonic GEO does well

Writesonic GEO is strongest when one team wants tracking, content and technical fixes in a single login. Four strengths stand out on its public pages.

  • Web-interface tracking. The AI Visibility Tracker page states that Writesonic crawls ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI and six more platforms “like a real user”, not through APIs. That matters because API answers can differ from what a buyer sees in the consumer app.
  • Execution tools in the same stack. Every self-serve plan bundles AI articles and site audits: 15 articles and 10 audits a month on Starter, rising to 50 articles and 50 audits on Growth. A content team can act on a finding without buying a second tool.
  • A structured action queue. The Action Center page describes gaps grouped into content, external citations and technical fixes, each scored by impact, confidence and effort. It includes robots.txt checks for GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot and drafted outreach for third-party citations.
  • Breadth beyond answers. Writesonic also tracks ads inside ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and products across ChatGPT Shopping and Google AI Mode. Ad tracking was not found on the reviewed pages of the six alternatives compared below.

One independent review reports a positive result on a named brand. Rankability’s April 22, 2026 review cites SEO consultant Eli Schwartz testing the tool on Grammarly and finding the brand in 85% of relevant AI answers with 77% positive sentiment. That is one brand on one date, not a benchmark.

Where Writesonic GEO fits less well

Writesonic GEO is a content platform first and a measurement layer second, and that ordering shows in the plan limits. Three limits matter most, and each is a scope question, not a quality judgement.

  • Three engines below Enterprise. Starter, Basic and Growth each track ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Google AI Mode are listed only on Enterprise. Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed pages.
  • The full Action Center is an Enterprise feature. Starter and Basic list the Action Center as “available on Enterprise”, and Growth includes a trial of five off-page and five on-page actions a month. The execution promise on the homepage is therefore partly a plan-level promise.
  • Software execution is still your team’s work. The agents draft articles, outreach and fixes, but someone on your side approves, publishes and follows up. Writesonic’s own vs-Promptwatch page frames the product as the tool that “ships the work”, which is accurate for drafting and less so for earning a citation from a third-party editor.

A fourth point concerns sample size. Starter lists 50 prompts and 50 answers tracked daily across three engines, while Basic lists 100 prompts and 300 answers. Per-prompt repeat sampling within a day was not found on the reviewed pages, so a daily figure may rest on one answer per prompt per engine.

Writesonic GEO pricing and plans

Writesonic GEO pricing starts at $99 a month on monthly billing or $79 a month billed annually, and the brand plans differ mainly in prompts, articles and access to the Action Center. Prices below are in US dollars as shown on Writesonic’s pricing pages; annual billing saves 20%.

Writesonic plans, pricing pages reviewed September 23, 2026.

Plan Price per month Prompts and daily answers Engines Content and execution Main point to verify
Starter $99 monthly, $79 annual 50 prompts, 50 answers ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews 15 articles, 10 audits, 1 user Action Center is listed as an Enterprise feature
Basic $249 monthly, $199 annual 100 prompts, 300 answers ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews 25 articles, 20 audits, 2 users Still three engines at 2.5 times the Starter price
Growth $499 monthly, $399 annual 200 prompts, 600 answers ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews 50 articles, sentiment, 3 users Action Center is a trial of five off-page and five on-page actions a month
Enterprise Custom Custom prompts, regions and languages All 10 platforms Full Action Center, strategist, SSO, SOC 2 Type II Which of the 10 platforms are live in your market and language
Agency Starter $200 billed annually; monthly rate not found on reviewed page 20 pitch projects, 2,000 answers a month All models except Claude Shareable audit reports, unlimited users Pitch projects run one to seven days and then pause

Source: Writesonic pricing and agency pricing pages, reviewed September 23, 2026. Converting a pitch project to a standard client project starts at $150 per project a month. “Not found on reviewed page” means the vendor’s public materials did not state that capability when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that the capability is absent.

The best Writesonic GEO alternatives in 2026

The right Writesonic GEO alternative depends on which half of the product you are replacing: the tracker, the content engine or the execution. The table ranks six alternatives on those axes.

Comparison of Writesonic GEO and six alternatives, public product pages reviewed September 23, 2026.

# Tool Best for Engines named on reviewed page Entry price Execution What to verify first
1 Canlah AI Re-verifiable evidence plus managed GEO work ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every tier Free 48-hour snapshot; retainer scoped after it Managed agency No published rate card, so get the scoped retainer in writing
2 Promptwatch Like-for-like tracker with content agents 4 of 8, incl. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok $95 Software with AEO articles from $245 Whether $95 is the monthly or the annualised rate in your region
3 Peec AI Mid-market teams and agencies 3 of 6 on self-serve; up to 13 on Enterprise $95 Software A fourth model costs extra, and DeepSeek and Qwen are API add-ons
4 Profound Enterprise programmes Up to 9, incl. ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, DeepSeek, Claude Free 7-day trial; Enterprise custom Software with AI Marketer agents Which engines the custom contract actually includes
5 Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit Teams already on Semrush ChatGPT, Google AI Mode $99 per domain Software 25 tracked prompts, and $99 again for every extra user
6 Otterly.AI Lowest published entry price 4 base; Claude, AI Mode, Gemini as add-ons $29 Software What each engine add-on costs on top of the $29 base
— Writesonic GEO (reviewed) Content-led teams wanting one stack 3 on self-serve; 10 on Enterprise $99 Software with article writer The full Action Center and seven of the 10 platforms sit on Enterprise

Engine lists refer to public positioning, not independently tested access. Doubao was not named on any of the pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. See the pricing table above for what “not found on reviewed page” means.

1. Canlah AI: Best overall alternative for measured, managed execution

Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. The same engine set applies on every tier; Perplexity and Chinese engines are not part of standard tracking.

Canlah AI ranks first in this comparison because it separates the two jobs Writesonic GEO bundles. On measurement, Canlah AI’s measurement protocol locks the client’s selected buyer intents for the contract period, re-measures them monthly after a baseline, runs each under at least three phrasing rotations per engine and stores every probe as a raw JSON record with prompt, full answer, citations and timestamp. It reports citation frequency as a range, and the archive belongs to the client, so another agency can re-run it.

On execution, Canlah AI does the work rather than handing you agents to run. Its pricing page lists 4 to 6 AI-optimised articles a month on the entry tier and 12 on the top tier, plus off-site authority placements and disclosed community participation from the middle tier upward. That off-site layer is the part a content platform finds hardest to automate.

Best for

B2B SaaS, export-focused and evidence-sensitive brands that want one accountable team to measure and act, including brands that sell across English and Chinese markets.

Limitations

Canlah AI is an agency, not a self-serve tool. You receive an evidence archive and a delivery plan, not a login where you can write 50 articles a month yourself. Its entry tier tracks 4 buyer intents, against 16 on the top tier, and Perplexity is not part of standard tracking on any tier. Canlah AI also does not publish a rate card: the pricing page scopes each retainer after a free 48-hour snapshot, which makes a quick budget comparison with Writesonic’s $99 plan harder.

Its own AI visibility is also low. In a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers (8.3%), in none of 93 Gemini answers and in none of 51 browser-rendered Google AI Overviews. It is less suited to content teams whose main need is article volume at a low monthly price.

What to verify

Ask for a redacted sample evidence pack showing the prompt, phrasing rotation, engine, full answer, cited sources and timestamp. Confirm in writing which engines your tier includes and which off-site placements are in scope for the first 90 days.

Verdict: The strongest Writesonic GEO alternative in this comparison when the number has to survive scrutiny and someone else has to do the work. Teams that want to write in-house at volume should stay with a software tool.

2. Promptwatch: Best like-for-like tracker with content agents

Promptwatch is the closest match to Writesonic GEO among the tools reviewed, because it also pairs tracking with agent-written content. Its pricing page listed Essential at $95 a month with 50 prompts and 6,000 responses, Professional at $245 with 150 prompts and five AEO articles a month, and Business at $579 with 350 prompts and 10 articles. Each plan tracks four models chosen from OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, Claude, Gemini, Meta, DeepSeek and Grok.

Best for

Small teams that want a polished tracker, a wider engine menu than Writesonic’s self-serve plans and some content help.

Limitations

AEO articles start on the Professional tier on the reviewed pricing page, and state and city tracking appears only on Business. Promptwatch is a younger product than Writesonic, and its reviewed pages list a narrower set of SEO and site-audit features around the tracker.

What to verify

Ask whether the $95 figure is the monthly or annual price for your region and how many runs sit behind each daily response count.

Verdict: A clean tracker with more engine choice per dollar than Writesonic’s self-serve plans, and a lighter content engine.

3. Peec AI: Best for mid-market teams and agencies

Peec AI is a Berlin-based AI search analytics platform whose clearest advantage is unlimited seats on every plan, so an agency or a whole marketing team can read the same numbers without buying more licences. Its pricing pages listed Starter at $95, Pro at $245 and Advanced at $495 a month for 50, 150 and 350 prompts, with three models chosen from a default six. The reviewed pages describe analytics and source-gap reporting rather than content production.

Best for

Teams and agencies that want clear metric definitions, share of voice and source-gap analysis, with everyone who uses the data able to log in.

Limitations

A fourth model costs extra on self-serve plans, and DeepSeek and Qwen are paid API add-ons. An article writer was not found on the reviewed pages, so the execution half of Writesonic GEO has to come from elsewhere.

What to verify

Ask which three models suit your market and whether an add-on engine reports the consumer app or the API.

Verdict: A pure measurement tool at an entry price within $4 of Writesonic Starter, with content production left to another team.

4. Profound: Best for enterprise programmes

Profound positions itself as an enterprise answer-engine platform and leads with an “AI Marketer” agent layer. Its pricing page lists a free trial of 50 prompts run daily for seven days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then a custom Enterprise plan with up to nine answer engines, SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance.

Best for

Large organisations comparing Writesonic Enterprise against a dedicated enterprise visibility contract.

Limitations

Profound’s pricing page describes the trial without history, exports or API access, and lists Enterprise pricing as custom. A self-serve tier was not found on the page reviewed on September 23, 2026.

What to verify

Ask which of the nine engines your contract includes and how the agent layer’s work is reviewed before it is published.

Verdict: The more natural comparison for Writesonic Enterprise buyers than for Starter or Basic buyers.

5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: Best for teams already on Semrush

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit adds AI visibility to a rank-tracking stack many SEO teams already pay for, at $99 a month per domain. It includes 25 prompts for daily Prompt Tracking, 300 daily queries in AI Analysis reports and 10 CSV exports a day across engines such as ChatGPT and Google AI Mode.

Best for

SEO teams that already live in Semrush and want AI visibility beside rank tracking, without adopting a new content platform.

Limitations

Twenty-five tracked prompts is half of Writesonic Starter’s 50, and each extra user needs another $99 licence. A free trial and a bundled article writer were not found on the reviewed knowledge-base page.

What to verify

Check whether your buyer questions exist in the Semrush prompt index before relying on the aggregate visibility score.

Verdict: The simpler choice for Semrush users at the same entry price as Writesonic Starter, with fewer prompts.

6. Otterly.AI: Best for the lowest published entry price

Otterly.AI is an Austrian monitoring tool with the lowest entry price reviewed, at $29 a month. It tracks four base engines, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini offered as add-ons.

Best for

Solo marketers and small businesses that want to see whether AI mentions them before paying for content or execution.

Limitations

The reviewed pages describe monitoring rather than execution, and the entry plan carries a small prompt allowance. Publishing and off-site work has to come from your own team or an agency.

What to verify

Confirm which engines are in the base plan and what each add-on costs before comparing it with Writesonic Starter.

Verdict: The cheapest way to start measuring, and a sensible first step before committing to a bundled suite.

Writesonic GEO vs Promptwatch at the entry tier

Writesonic is better for teams that want articles, site audits and an action queue in the same subscription, and Promptwatch is better for teams that mainly want a tracker with a wider engine menu. At the entry tier the prices are close, at $99 for Writesonic Starter and $95 for Promptwatch Essential. Writesonic Starter tracks three fixed engines and adds 15 articles a month, while Promptwatch Essential tracks four chosen engines, with AEO articles starting on the tier above.

Writesonic’s own comparison page concedes the point: it recommends Promptwatch as “the clean SMB tracker” for a solo SEO or a small European team, and pitches Writesonic for execution and SOC 2 procurement. Treat both vendors’ pages as sales material and test the same 10 prompts on each during a trial.

How to decide between Writesonic GEO and an alternative

Choose Writesonic GEO if your bottleneck is content production and you want tracking attached to it; choose an alternative if your bottleneck is trustworthy measurement or execution capacity. A simple decision path follows.

  • Choose Writesonic GEO if you are a content-led team that will publish 15 to 50 AI-assisted articles a month and can live with three tracked engines below Enterprise.
  • Choose Canlah AI if you need evidence a sceptical stakeholder can re-run and a team to do the on-site and off-site work.
  • Choose Promptwatch if you want a comparable tracker with DeepSeek, Grok or Claude in the engine mix at a similar price.
  • Choose Peec AI if you need unlimited seats and clearly defined share-of-voice metrics.
  • Choose Otterly.AI if you want the cheapest possible baseline first.

Frequently asked questions

What is Writesonic GEO?

Writesonic GEO is the AI visibility product inside Writesonic, the Y Combinator-backed AI writing platform founded in 2021. It tracks how often a brand appears in AI answers, groups the gaps into an Action Center queue and sits in the same subscription as Writesonic’s article writer and site audits. Self-serve plans cover ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews from $99 a month, and Enterprise covers all 10 AI platforms.

Is Writesonic GEO worth it?

Writesonic GEO is worth it for content-led teams that will use the bundled article writer and site audits every month, because the tracker then comes at little extra cost. It is harder to justify for teams that only need measurement, since Starter, Basic and Growth track three engines and the full Action Center requires Enterprise.

How much does Writesonic GEO cost?

Writesonic’s pricing pages reviewed on September 23, 2026 listed Starter at $99, Basic at $249 and Growth at $499 a month on monthly billing, or $79, $199 and $399 billed annually. Enterprise is custom and covers all 10 AI platforms. Agency Starter was listed at $200 a month billed annually.

Which engines does the Writesonic GEO tracker cover?

The Writesonic GEO tracker covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on self-serve plans. Enterprise adds Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Google AI Mode for 10 platforms in total. Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed pages.

Can Writesonic GEO or any alternative guarantee that ChatGPT recommends my brand?

No. A tool or agency can guarantee sampling, reporting and agreed work. It cannot control how an independent model answers every question, so treat any ranking guarantee as a sales claim.

Is the Writesonic AI visibility tracker accurate?

Writesonic states that it tracks the consumer web interfaces rather than APIs, which brings its answers closer to what buyers see. Accuracy still depends on how many runs sit behind each figure, and per-prompt repeat sampling was not found on the reviewed pages. Ask for raw answers during the trial.

How is Canlah AI different from Writesonic GEO?

Writesonic GEO is self-serve software that tracks AI visibility and gives your team agents to write and fix content. Canlah AI is an agency that runs locked buyer intents under phrasing rotation, hands over a raw evidence archive and then does the on-site and off-site GEO work itself. You can start with a free 48-hour snapshot of your own baseline.
