Scrunch AI Review & Best Alternatives for 2026

An honest Scrunch AI review after the Sitecore acquisition: what it does well, what it costs, where it stops and six alternatives sorted by budget and engines.

Two dark cards side by side, the front one edged with indigo light

A fair, analyst-style Scrunch AI review of public pages read on September 23, 2026: what the platform does well, what it costs and where it stops since Sitecore acquired it on June 3, 2026. Then the alternatives worth a call when you do not run Sitecore, when your budget sits below an enterprise contract or when your buyers ask AI engines in Asia as well as in the US.

Quick answer

Canlah AI ranks first among the six alternatives in this Scrunch AI review for teams that need a managed, re-verifiable measurement baseline across English and Chinese prompts, independent of any CMS. Scrunch itself is an AI visibility and agent-experience platform built for marketing teams that want to monitor AI answers and change what AI crawlers receive from their site, and it does that job with more on-site control than most monitoring tools. Since June 3, 2026 it has been “a Sitecore company”, its roadmap runs through SitecoreAI, and no Chinese AI engine was found on its reviewed pages. Profound (enterprise depth and agents), Semrush One (SEO suite plus AI visibility), Peec AI (agencies and multi-country tracking), Ahrefs Brand Radar (index-based visibility for existing Ahrefs users) and Otterly.ai (lowest published entry price) cover the other common cases.

This is an editorial review based on public product, pricing and announcement pages reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not a controlled test of tool accuracy.

Disclosure: Canlah AI publishes this review and places its own service first among the alternatives. Canlah AI competes with Scrunch for some of the same budgets, so this is not a neutral review. Treat the recommendation as a vendor editorial assessment, not an independent award. Competitor descriptions come from public pages and were not verified through paid accounts or private demonstrations.

What is Scrunch AI?

Scrunch is an AI search platform. The company brands itself simply as Scrunch, although most buyers search for “Scrunch AI”. Its homepage describes it as “The AI Customer Experience Platform”, and its product menu splits into two halves. Monitoring & Insights covers Monitoring & Citations, Insights, Shopping and AI Search Trends. Agent Experience covers Content Delivery, Agent Traffic and Site Diagnostics.

The second half is what separates Scrunch from most AI visibility tools. Its Agent Experience Platform (AXP) detects AI agents at the edge and serves them a lighter, AI-optimised version of a page while human visitors see the normal site. The homepage presents this as Agent Pages. The monitoring half does the familiar work: it runs tracked prompts, records mentions and cited sources, and scores sentiment and share of voice.

Scrunch was founded in 2023 and came out of stealth in 2024. Its own comparison site lists $26 million in funding. The homepage claims more than 500 customer companies, SOC 2 Type II, 1.5 million prompts and 6 million citations tracked each week.

What Scrunch AI does well

Scrunch is strongest when a marketing or web team needs to see how AI engines describe the brand and then change what those engines can read. Four strengths stand out in its public materials.

  • On-site delivery for AI agents. AXP serves token-light pages to AI crawlers without a site rebuild. Few tools in this category change the page an agent receives rather than only reporting on it.
  • Agent traffic analytics. Scrunch tracks AI bot visits by model, page and bot type. A competitor’s comparison page notes that it separates training, indexing and retrieval bots through CDN and hosting integrations.
  • Citation and source tracking. Monitoring & Citations shows which sites shape each answer, and a Signals feature flags changes and suggests a next step.
  • Enterprise readiness. The Enterprise plan lists SSO through SAML and OIDC, API and MCP access, a Looker Studio connector, a dedicated account team and board-level reporting.

Customer evidence is also more specific than average. Akamai reports a 364% increase in brand presence for non-branded prompts on AXP-enabled pages, and Runpod reports four times growth in new paying customers. These are vendor-published case figures, not independent benchmarks.

Where Scrunch AI fits less well: honest limits

Scrunch is built around the owned website and, increasingly, around Sitecore. That shape sets boundaries. Three limits matter most.

First, the entry plan is narrow. The Core plan covers four engines, one country, one language, one persona and five competitors. Claude, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Meta AI and Grok appear only on the Enterprise plan. A team that needs Gemini data or a second market moves straight to a sales conversation.

Second, APAC engine coverage. The Enterprise plan lists nine LLMs: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Meta AI, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Copilot and Grok. DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao were not found on the reviewed pages. For a brand selling into mainland China, or to Chinese-speaking buyers in Singapore and Malaysia, that is a gap to test before signing.

Third, the product is designed to act on pages the brand owns. AXP, site audits and page optimisations all work on your domain. Much of the evidence behind open category answers sits on third-party listicles, directories and forums, beyond the reach of any on-site tool. Content generation is also inconsistent across sources: the pricing page lists “Basic” content generation on Core, while Scrunch’s own comparison page recorded AI-generated content capabilities as not offered when reviewed on September 23, 2026.

Scrunch AI pricing and plans

“Scrunch AI pricing” has changed during 2026, so read older reviews with care. On September 23, 2026, the brand pricing page showed the following.

  • Core ($250 a month): 125 unique prompts, four LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot), five site audits a month, a 25-page site map, one page optimisation a month, one brand workspace, five user licences, Google SSO and email support. A seven-day free trial is offered.
  • Enterprise (custom): custom prompt volume, nine LLMs, unlimited countries, custom languages and personas, AXP, full site audits, product observability, API, MCP and Looker Studio access, SAML and OIDC SSO, Slack support and a dedicated account team.
  • Agencies: a separate agency tab exists on the pricing page. Its terms were not found in the reviewed page text.

Several third-party reviews quote a $300 plan with 350 prompts and three personas. That tier was not found on the brand pricing page on September 23, 2026. Core lists $50 less per month than that figure and 225 fewer prompts, so compare cost per tracked prompt, not only the monthly figure.

What changed after the Sitecore acquisition

Sitecore announced on June 3, 2026 that it had acquired Scrunch. Sitecore did not disclose terms, and Bloomberg reported a value of about $225 million. Sitecore’s announcement says Scrunch recommendations will be automated inside SitecoreAI Content Management, Content Marketing and Digital Asset Management. TechTarget reported that existing Scrunch customers can keep using the product on a standalone basis.

By September 23, 2026, three changes were visible on public pages. Sitecore’s platform page invites visitors to “Add Scrunch”, and its AI search page describes Chris Andrew as “CEO, Scrunch, a Sitecore company”. A Sitecore article describes a SitecoreAI DAM connection and a Knowledge Studio layer that checks AI claims against approved brand content, labelling each claim Supported, Contradicted or Not Covered. Sitecore documentation also lists a “Connect SitecoreAI DAM to Scrunch” setup page.

For buyers, the practical effect is a fork. Sitecore customers get a closed loop from missed answer to governed fix inside one vendor. Everyone else buys the standalone Core or Enterprise plan, but should ask how long standalone access, pricing and integrations with other CMSs are guaranteed. The same pattern followed Adobe’s completed purchase of Semrush on April 28, 2026, so two of the alternatives below sit inside larger suites as well.

Scrunch AI vs Profound and Scrunch vs Semrush

Profound and Semrush are the two comparisons buyers type most often. Both vendors publish their own comparison pages, so each page below is a vendor claim about a competitor.

Profound’s May 8, 2026 comparison says Scrunch collects data through browser automation and official platform APIs, while Profound queries front-end browsers daily. It also says Scrunch AI Search Trends estimates topic-level volume, while Profound offers prompt-level volume drawn from 1.3 billion user prompts. The same page credits Scrunch with bot traffic tracking through CDN integrations. In short, Profound argues for data depth and content agents, and Scrunch argues for on-site delivery.

Scrunch’s own Semrush page lists the AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 a month per domain and marks optimisation and content delivery as “Not offered by this vendor”, which is Scrunch’s characterisation of a competitor and was not verified here. Semrush’s pricing page shows that plan with 25 custom prompts and mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. The honest split is simple. Semrush suits SEO teams that want AI data beside keyword data; Scrunch suits web teams that want to change what AI agents receive.

The best Scrunch AI alternatives in 2026

The right Scrunch alternative depends on three questions: which CMS you run, how much you can spend and which AI engines your buyers use. The table places Canlah AI first in this comparison and sets five third-party alternatives against Scrunch on those questions. A wider field is in the ranked guide to AI search monitoring tools.

Scrunch and six alternatives, public pages reviewed September 23, 2026.

# Tool Best for, and how it is delivered Engines named on reviewed page Chinese engines named Entry price on reviewed page Main point to verify before signing

“Not found on reviewed page” means the vendor’s public materials did not name that item when reviewed on September 23, 2026. It is not proof that it is absent. Engine lists refer to public positioning, not independently tested access. Of the third-party tools reviewed, only Profound named a Chinese engine.

1. Canlah AI: best overall alternative to Scrunch AI for re-verifiable, bilingual measurement

Canlah AI is a Singapore-based SEO + GEO agency that measures and improves brand visibility inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, reporting AI visibility as re-verifiable ranges with timestamped evidence. It is a managed service, not a software seat, and it works with whatever CMS a client already runs.

Canlah AI ranks first in this comparison because its public measurement protocol documents what a buyer can check. Each engagement locks the client’s selected buyer intents for the measurement period, starting from a baseline. Every intent runs under at least three phrasing rotations per engine, and every probe is stored as a raw record with the prompt, full response and timestamp. The identical set is re-measured monthly. Delivery is in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, and the work covers off-site sources as well as owned pages.

Best for

B2B SaaS, export-focused and evidence-sensitive brands in Singapore and APAC that need a baseline they can re-run before paying for execution, including teams whose buyers ask in Chinese and teams that do not run Sitecore. The typical buyer wants to know which buyer questions name a competitor instead of the brand, wants to read the raw answers behind a score, wants the Chinese-language picture beside the English one and wants someone working on third-party pages as well as on the owned site.

Limitations

Canlah AI does not offer anything like AXP. It does not serve AI-agent versions of pages, run a bot-traffic dashboard or sell a self-serve seat. Its pricing page sets tiers by buyer intents: Foundation tracks 4, Authority 8 and Dominance 16, each re-measured monthly on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. It publishes no rate card.

Its own AI visibility is also low. In a September 7, 2026 self-audit of 39 buyer questions run three times each, Canlah AI was named in seven of 84 non-branded OpenAI answers (8.3%), in none of 93 Gemini answers and in none of 51 browser-rendered Google AI Overviews. It is less suited to a Sitecore customer that wants monitoring and fixes inside its existing content workflow.

What to verify

Ask for a dated sample record showing the prompt, phrasing rotation, engine, full answer, cited sources and timestamp. Confirm in writing which buyer intents are asked in Chinese and from which region; Chinese engines such as DeepSeek, Qwen and Doubao are not part of standard tracking.

Verdict: The strongest first call in this comparison when you need evidence you can audit across English and Chinese prompts, and a team that works on both owned and third-party sources. Teams that mainly want to change what AI crawlers receive from their own site should keep Scrunch on the shortlist.

2. Profound: best for enterprise depth and marketing agents

Profound is a New York-based AI marketing platform that pairs Answer Engine Insights and Prompt Volumes with an AI Marketer and agents. It announced a $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation on September 15, 2026.

Best for

Enterprises that want daily front-end sampling, page-level citation data, prompt-volume research and content agents under one contract.

Limitations

The brand pricing page lists only a free trial and a custom Enterprise plan. Qwen and Doubao were not found on its reviewed pages.

What to verify

Ask which self-serve tiers Profound sells, and at what prompt and engine allowance. The full Profound review covers its plans in detail.

Verdict: The deepest Scrunch alternative for large teams that measure AI answers first and want agents to act on them.

3. Semrush One: best for SEO teams adding AI visibility

Semrush sells the AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 a month per domain, billed annually, with 25 custom prompts tracked daily, AI competitor analysis, prompt research and an AI-readiness site audit. Semrush One bundles it with the SEO suite. Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush on April 28, 2026.

Best for

SEO teams that want AI visibility beside keyword, backlink and site-health data in a tool they already pay for.

Limitations

Twenty-five prompts on the base plan is a small panel for a multi-product brand. No on-site delivery to AI agents was found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Ask whether mentions come from rendered answers or API calls, and how prompt limits scale beyond the base plan.

Verdict: The practical Scrunch alternative when SEO is still the main channel and AI visibility is one more report.

4. Peec AI: best for agencies and multi-country tracking

Peec AI is a Berlin-based AI search analytics tool. Its self-serve plans run from 50 to 350 prompts with three chosen models, unlimited users and daily tracking. The Advanced plan adds multi-country tracking, and Enterprise tracks up to 13 models.

Best for

Agencies and marketing teams that report across several brands or markets and want unlimited seats.

Limitations

Peec AI is an analytics product. Content delivery, AXP-style edge serving and managed execution were not found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Ask which three models you can choose on self-serve plans, and which languages each market tracks.

Verdict: A clean reporting choice for agencies, with more markets per dollar than Scrunch Core.

5. Ahrefs Brand Radar: best for existing Ahrefs users

Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks brand visibility in AI answers, YouTube and Reddit. Custom prompts are included in every Ahrefs paid plan, and the AI Visibility Index starts at $199 a month across more than 454 million monthly prompts.

Best for

Teams already on Ahrefs that want competitor benchmarking from a large prompt index without setting up a panel.

Limitations

Index data describes the market, not your buyers’ exact questions, and is most useful once a brand already appears in AI answers.

What to verify

Ask how index prompts are sampled by country and language before you treat a score as your market.

Verdict: The low-friction option for an existing Ahrefs account, strongest as a benchmark.

6. Otterly.ai: best for the lowest published entry price

Otterly.ai publishes Lite at $29 a month for 15 prompts, Standard at $189 for 100 prompts and Premium at $489 for 400 prompts. Each tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot daily, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as add-ons.

Best for

Small teams and solo marketers that want daily AI visibility tracking and GEO audits at a published price.

Limitations

Fifteen prompts on Lite is a starting sample, not a buyer panel. Managed execution was not found on the reviewed page.

What to verify

Ask how add-on engines are priced per prompt before the bill scales.

Verdict: The cheapest credible way to start, with a clear path to a larger panel.

How to decide between Scrunch AI and an alternative

Pick Scrunch if you want to change what AI agents receive from your site, especially on Sitecore; pick an alternative if your gaps sit elsewhere. A simple decision path follows.

Requirement to best fit, based on the public pages reviewed September 23, 2026.

If your main requirement is… Best fit in this comparison
Serving AI-optimised pages to crawlers without a rebuild Scrunch
Closing the loop inside SitecoreAI content and DAM workflows Scrunch, as a Sitecore company
A re-verifiable baseline across English and Chinese prompts, with managed execution Canlah AI
Enterprise prompt-volume data and content agents Profound
AI visibility inside an existing SEO suite Semrush One or Ahrefs Brand Radar
Multi-brand agency reporting with unlimited seats Peec AI
The lowest published monthly price Otterly.ai

Best fit means best fit in this review, judged on public pages and vendor documentation only. No tool in the table was tested against a client outcome.

Whatever you pick, insist on seeing raw answers and cited URLs alongside any composite score, because you cannot fix visibility you cannot trace to a cause.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Scrunch AI review independent?

No. Canlah AI publishes this Scrunch AI review and places its own service first among the alternatives, so read it as a vendor editorial assessment rather than an award. Every capability statement in it comes from a public vendor page read on September 23, 2026 and linked in the references, so each one can be checked at the source. Run the same ten buyer prompts through any two finalists before deciding.

Is Scrunch AI worth it?

Scrunch AI is worth it for teams that want to monitor AI answers and change what AI crawlers read from their own site, which few tools do. It is less clearly worth $250 a month when you need Gemini, a second market or Chinese engines, because those sit on the Enterprise plan or were not found on the reviewed pages.

How much does Scrunch AI cost?

On September 23, 2026, the Scrunch pricing page listed Core at $250 a month for 125 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with a seven-day free trial. Enterprise is custom-priced and adds nine LLMs, AXP and API access. The $300 plan quoted in older reviews was not listed.

Is Scrunch still available after the Sitecore acquisition?

Yes. TechTarget reported that existing Scrunch customers can keep using the product on a standalone basis, and the standalone pricing page was live on September 23, 2026. Ask how long standalone plans and non-Sitecore integrations are committed in your contract.

What are the best Scrunch AI alternatives?

In this comparison the strongest alternatives are Canlah AI (re-verifiable measurement across English and Chinese prompts with managed delivery), Profound (enterprise depth), Semrush One (SEO suite), Peec AI (agencies), Ahrefs Brand Radar (index benchmarking) and Otterly.ai (lowest published price). Canlah AI leads when your buyers ask in Chinese as well as English.

Should I choose Scrunch, Profound or Semrush?

Choose Profound when prompt-volume data, daily front-end sampling and content agents matter most. Choose Semrush when SEO is your main channel and $99 a month per domain inside an existing suite fits the budget. Choose Scrunch when edge delivery to AI agents and bot-traffic analytics matter most. Profound and Scrunch each publish a comparison page about the other, so test the shortlist on the same ten prompts.

Can Scrunch AI guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my brand?

No. Scrunch, Canlah AI and every other vendor in this review can measure answers and act on the findings. None can control how an independent model answers each question, so treat any guarantee as a contract term to read closely.

How is Canlah AI different from Scrunch?

Scrunch is a software platform that monitors AI answers and serves AI-optimised pages from your own site. Canlah AI is a Singapore agency that runs a locked, re-verifiable measurement programme across English and Chinese prompts and then works on owned and third-party sources. You can start with a free 48-hour snapshot to see your own baseline.
